The West Africa Examinations Council, a sub-regional organisation responsible for the conduct of a variety of examinations in Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, of the five countries  the English-speaking West African countries.

Job Title: Assistant Registrar (Research)

Job Description

The West Africa Examinations Council, a sub-regional organisation responsible for the conduct of a variety of examinations in English-speaking West African countries, invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant position at its Headquarters Office in Accra.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
As an Assistant Registrar (Research), you will assist the Head of Department in handling all research and other related issues;

  • Drafting Research proposals
  • Conducting research (collecting, organizing and analyzing data and interpreting the results)
  • Preparing draft research reports
  • Reviewing and editing research reports
  • Reviewing and editing WAEC Seminar papers
  • Scouting for potential item writers in aptitude tests
  • Moderating aptitude test items
  • Compiling aptitude test batteries

 

Required Skills or Experience

Eligibility Criteria

  • A Masters Degree in Education, Psychology, Statistics or any related field of study
  • Must have at least three years post-qualification work experience in a reputable institution in the education sector
  • The applicant should not be more than forty years

Competencies/Skills:
Eligible applicants must have:

  • Strong background and skills in qualitative and quantitative research methods and statistical analysis
  • High proficiency in computer software application (e.g. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS)
  • Internet Skills;
  • Have the ability to write good reports, analyze and audit research reports; ability to work extra hours and work with little or no supervision
  • Good interpersonal, analytical  and presentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken), interpersonal and presentational skills
  • The applicant should in addition to these be self motivated and a good team player
