World Vision International is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. For over two decades. World Vision has been working with urban and rural communities in all the 10 Regions of Ghana to improve provision of water, promote sanitation and hygiene practices and quality education, particularly at the basic level, enhance food security and respond to disasters.

Job Description

World Vision Ghana (WVG) is looking for highly qualified and motivated persons for the following positions known as The Systems Approach to Improve and Sustain Food Security (SATISFY) in West Africa. This project is a five years project funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and to be implemented by World Vision Ghana, Mali, Senegal and Sierra Leone. The ultimate outcome of the project is ‘improved food security status of people living in poor rural communities targeted by the project in these countries.

Purpose of the Position:
To facilitate the delivery of all SATISFY project activities by way of community entry, mobilization, participation in project planning, implementation, monitoring, review as well as evaluation and collaboration with all relevant partners and stakeholders; working closely and with leadership support from the Ghana SATISFY field program manager.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure the implementation of the SATISFY project planned activities in a timely manner and within the project budget
  2. Undertake regular field monitoring visits and provide support to SATISFY project beneficiaries (farmers) and/or other project stakeholders as per the project activities planned
  3. Ensure all SATISFY project activities implementation is guided by developed gender (with involvement of men/women in all project activities) and environmental impact strategies of the project
  4. Plan and implement trainings for farmers and/or other SATISFY project beneficiaries and stakeholders in the project area (s) as per the planned project activities
  5. Participate in SATISFY project meetings and share project activities implementation progress updates with other SATISFY project team members
  6. Prepare project activity progress reports and submit to the Field Program Manager (FPM) in a timely manner
  7. Lead the organization of project review sessions (annual workplan meetings…) at the district level with stakeholders, with support from the FPM and ADP manager(s)
  8. Liaise with all project stakeholders and regularly share relevant project information as required for the successful project activities implementation at the ADP (district) level
  9. Plan and coordinate logistics together with the project manager and/or ADP manager for project activities implementation in the assigned district(s)

Required Skills or Experience

Person Specification:

  • Minimum Qualification required: BA/BSc Degree in Agricultural Sciences, Food Security, Development studies, community development, planning or a related field
  • Experience: 1-3 years’ experience in food security or agriculture, development work or community mobilization
  • Strong knowledge of sustainable agricultural (and/or environmental) techniques
  • Knowledge of modern Food security and nutrition approaches
  • Strong capacity building skills (especially with people with no formal education)
  • Working knowledge of programs or the projects management cycle
  • NGOs experience (with World Vision will be an added advantage)
  • Knowledge and experience of the project area (s) will be an advantage
  • Former experience with CIDA related work will be an advantage
  • Monitoring, reporting and proposal writing skills
