WorldCover sells crop insurance to farmers in the developing world, starting with Ghana. We use remote sensing and data science to create a simple and affordable insurance product to protect farmers from drought. Our insurance policies are funded by investors through a marketplace model so we don’t directly take risk for payouts. Job Description

Job Title: Sales Innovation Director

We are not looking for a Sales Manager who grows our sales according to targets. Instead we are looking for an innovator who can experiment and develop a brand new sales model.

Some sales experience preferred, but most important is high energy, creativity, and a relentless, hypothesis-driven approach.

Job Location: Ghana, in one of Northern, Upper East, Upper West, or Brong Ahafo regions with significant travel throughout the country.

Duration: 2 year commitment to WorldCover, with 3-month review period.

Job Responsibilities

As Sales Innovations Director, your primary responsibility will be to develop a new sales model from scratch, which:

  • Starts in the Brong-Ahafo region
  • Tests multiple approaches in lean, sprint-like experiments
  • Monitors cost and efficiency carefully
  • Balances revenue appropriately with “cost of acquisition” of customers

You will be given 3 months to show initial results. If successful, you will oversee the roll-out of the model across Brong-Ahafo region, which will include hiring a dedicated Regional Sales Coordinator to carry out the new sales model.Then, you will grow into a broader role with WorldCover in which you will measure, monitor, and improve sales metrics (costs and revenues) across the organization in all regions we operate.

Your Responsibilities Include

  • Field visits to directly market, sell, and service the product in the scope of hypothesis-driven experiments and research projects which will enable you to develop a new sales model
  • Developing spreadsheets to create theoretical sales models as well as to track actual result

Requirements

The REQUIREMENTS for this position are:

  • Very good quantitative skills
  • Ability to create and test an experimental sales plan (you will be asked to submit one during the interview process)
  • Extremely good English verbal and written communication skills (international standards)
  • Twi language skills
  • Some limited sales experience
  • Some familiarity with Brong-Ahafo region and / or smallholder farmers

NOT Required Or Valuable

  • A large network of agricultural stakeholders in Brong-Ahafo
  • Sales management experience
  • Experience with insurance
