ACDI/VOCA is currently seeking a Mushroom Specialist for an upcoming volunteer assignment in Ghana. The Premier Mushroom Growers Association is requesting volunteer assistance to train their members on Button mushroom, Ganoderma and Domo mushrooms cultivation, as well as on spawn multiplication and how to prevent and control contamination and diseases. The assignment will last for approximately three weeks in country, in addition to preparation and research previous to departure. Travel and living are covered.
Job Title: Mushroom Cultivation Specialist, Ghana, PMGA
University degree in agriculture, mycology, or a related field.
At least five years of experience in mushroom production and in training women farmer based organizations and cooperative associations in developing countries.
Proficient computer skills including MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint.
The volunteer should be prepared to live in a rural and hot setting with limited or no access to amenities such as air conditioning or internet.
Previous experience in rural African settings an advantage, although not required.
