Job Description

Job Title: Interface Manager

Job Summary

The Interface Manager is to facilitate agreements with other stakeholders regarding roles & responsibilities, the timing for providing interface information and identification of critical interfaces early in the project through a structured process.

The overall goal is the early identification of issues with the potential for impact to cost or schedule, to minimize or remove their impact and promote clear, accurate, timely, and consistent communication with other organizations for exchanging interface with its scheduled project tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Interface Manager is responsible for:

  • Reviewing project scope of work, development goals, and strategies, execution plans, packaging strategies, etc.
  • Interface coordination with various parties such as external parties, engineering design consultants, construction contractors with the objective of mitigating/ resolving construction issues in a timely manner
  • Coordinating and expediting technical interfaces between various engineering offices of the project design team and construction team
  • Organizing video and teleconferences, interface meetings, etc. for exchange of interdependent project information expeditiously
  • Monitoring status of interface agreements across project and providing regular updates to decision makers where appropriate
  • Keeping senior management routinely informed of project status and developments that impact schedule, safety, and reputation through regular reports
  • Assisting review and finalization of overall project schedules, progress monitoring and expediting
  • Participation in finalization of contracts with particular attention to scope and schedule interfaces

Minimum Requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in programme management environment
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership position managing projects.
  • Minimum 18 years of experience in the civil infrastructure industry.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the employ of an engineering consulting firm.

Specific skills required:

  • Project Management skills (including formal techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects).
  • Knowledge of package planning and interface management for civil infrastructure development projects.
  • Risk identification, assessment and mitigation skills.

Personal Attributes:

  • Interpersonal communication.
  • Very organized and able to multi-task to meet strict deadlines.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships and effective channels of communication in a pressurized and highly time sensitive environment.
  • Team leader/decision maker – ability to identify skill gaps in team members and implement appropriate development.
  • Focused on client delivery – attention to detail and quality with a capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Empathy towards staff and colleagues – collaborative management style.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical background, preferably Bachelors in Engineering.

Member of a professional organization.
