The University of Ghana’s Department of Animal Science, the Ghana National Poultry Farmer’s Association (GNAPF) and USDA funded AMPLIFIES Ghana project embarked on a national egg consumption survey in early 2017 with the following objectives:
1. Determine the knowledge, attitude and practice of Ghanaians on egg consumption;
2. Determine the perceptions and sources (or misconceptions, if any) that the population may
have towards egg consumption; and
3. Recommend ways of addressing these misconceptions to boost egg consumption in Ghana as part of the nationwide campaign for the promotion of egg consumption for the AMPLIFIES project.
Job Description
Job Title: Data Analysis Consultant – Statistician
Deadline: 10 July 2017
Purpose of the Consultancy
The assignment seeks to analyze data and produce relevant reports according to USDA guidelines.
Proposed time frame: 5 days
Task: Data Processing, Analysis and Interpretation
– Data analysis and Interpretation
– Preparation and assistance to draft KAP report
– Debriefing for AMPLIFIES Ghana staff to i) Familiarize them with analysis findings, and ii) Validate the findings
Deliverable
Debriefing
Written comments on KAP reports
Management and Technical Guidance
The consultant will work under the overall supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager. The Monitoring and Evaluation Manager will be responsible for reviewing and approving the analysis framework and reports submitted.
The Monitoring and Evaluation Manager will be the direct contact person for the consultant and responsible for day-to-day supervision of the consultant and link to any organizational support necessary.
Job requirements
Individuals that meet the following required qualifications and skills are invited to apply for this consultancy:
Postgraduate qualification (Masters or above) in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research or a discipline relevant to this assignment;
At least 5 years’ experience of progressive responsibility in data manipulation and report generation;
Evidence of publications in referred journals will be an added advantage.
Skills and abilities
Ability to integrate gender in data analysis;
Excellent quantitative data analysis skills using statistical software like SPSS and MS Excel;
Proven ability to interpret and analyze complex qualitative and quantitative data, and to present findings and recommendations in a clear and concise way;
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team with diverse backgrounds;
Excellent English writing skills
