Job Description

Job Title: Nursing Officer.

Role Summary:

• To provide assistance for the Resident Medical Officer in the day-to-day running of the clinic on a shift basis.

Role Accountabilities:

• Plan and undertake health promotion programmes.
• Undertake theatre nursing duties.
• Prepare patients for OPD consultation and admission by doing the following:
• Checking and recording vital signs
• Orientation and education of patients
• Counselling and administration of medications to patients, according to the prescription instructions
• Provide First Aid and first line emergency treatment in the absence of the medical officer and inform him of the condition.
• Carry out clinical procedures such as wound dressing, IM injection and injury treatment.
• Prepare weekly and monthly clinic reports for Resident Medical Officer’s review.
• Assist the Medical Assistant to ensure that the ambulance, evacuation procedures and emergency equipment are duly checked each day.
• Ensure good housekeeping and standard hospital infection control procedures.
• Medically escort critically ill patients to referral hospitals during medical evacuation.

Required Skills or Experience

• Qualified State Registered Nurse/Diploma in Nursing.
• A minimum of s years nursing practice with experience in theatre and emergency nursing.
• In good standing with the Ghana Nurses and Midwives’ Council.
• Good knowledge of health data management.
• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
• Good communication and strong interpersonal/presentation skills.
• Ability to work extra hours and also respond to tight deadlines.
• Must possess a valid national driver’s license.
