AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is currently on a journey to redevelop the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation will be fully mechanized, designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

Job Description

Job Title: Material Handler.

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

The purpose of the role is a mandatory requirement to enable safe transport of men and materials underground by using the Cage.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Advertisement
  • Ensure Workplace safety – Report, record, and act appropriately in accordance with the mining regulations in terms of emergencies and critical situations
  • Improve productivity – Implement daily instructions and apply all procedures in accordance with the mining regulations and the mine standards to safely and timeously transport men and materials underground
  • Shaft Activities reporting – Report and record men/material transported underground and other activities pertaining to shaft inspections in the Shaft Log book and the Material book respectively
  • House keeping – Ensure  that all mine shafts surface and yard demarcations, shaft banks, shaft stations and the installations therein are well house kept

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Qualification

  • SSCE or equivalent

Experience 

  • 3 years’ experience in underground operations

Legal Requirement

  • Statutory certificate of competency in the usage of Cage
