APM Terminals is one of the world’s largest port and terminal operators as well as providing cargo support and container Inland Services. It is the largest port and terminal operating company in terms of overall geographic scope, operating a Global Terminal Network with interests in 63 operating port and terminal facilities in 39 countries on five continents. Additionally, there are seven new port projects in development, as well as over 160 Inland Services operations providing container transportation, management, maintenance and repair in 48 countries.

Based in Tema and reporting to the West Africa Cluster Director, the Managing Director APM Terminals Inland Services Ghana is responsible for the Ghana business (USD 17 Million in 2013), comprising 93 permanent employees and 182 outsourced staff, covering operations as well as other functions such as Finance, HR, HSSE & Commercial within the 5 depot locations in Tema, Ghana. The cumulative size of the existing depots is 84,500 sq. m., covering Full Import, Export, Dry & Reefer Empty container activities. The entity can also boast of a Trucking operation with a fleet of 40 Trucks.

Job Description

Job Title: Associate Finance Controller

• Strives for excellence and profitability.
• Assist in implementing Global/Region financial policies, guidelines and strategies.
• Assists CFO in executing company financial, governance and compliance policies.

Key Responsibilities

• • • Ensure that proper reconciliation is prepared on all GL accounts, following up to ensure that there are no aged items greater than 30 days
    • Ensure that all transactions processed are posted in a timely manner to improve data quality of the GL. Reporting
    • Completion of the country/regional monthly financial reporting according to the APMT GAP accounting policies.
    • Completion of yearly Budget, Quarter Full Year Estimates and December book close procedures.
    • Achieve a min of 100% for the country/regional reporting performance scorecards based on the parameters of accuracy and timing.
    • Accountability and transparency of country/regional local accounts Internal Controls.
    • Ensure that a minimum score of good is achieved for Accounting during Internal Control Visits.
    • Ensure adequate controls over company’s assets and 3rd party property in the care of the company.
    • Ensure all SOP’s under the control checklist are adhered to strictly.
    • All SOPs under the control checklist are reviewed on yearly basis. Others
    • Ensure statutory requirements (VAT, IRS, and SSNIT) are met.
    • Ensure all Tax returns and filings are done accurately and on time.

We are looking for

• • • • Professional qualification in Accountancy or Finance management.
      • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Economics.
      • Prior experience (minimum 5 year’s post qualification experience) within a business partnering environment.
      • Strong knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS) and procedures.
      • Understanding of the container shipping industry and an ability to relate with shipping company and other associated industry managers.
      • Highly energetic and self-motivated, proactive and resourceful.
      • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Proven ability to influence without authority and engage confidently with leaders at all levels.
