Job Description
Job Title: Head, Operations Department
Role Summary
• Lead the Bank’s operational activities with the support of ICT to deliver efficient services to the satisfaction of the RCBs in line with laid down systems, procedures and policies, as well as in compliance with Bank of Ghana (BoG) regulations and ensuring minimum risk to the Bank
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
• Update and enrich the operational systems, processes and policies to maximize the Bank’s output and services to the RCBs. Promote the full alignment of the systems of the RCBs to that of the Bank for maximum benefits
• Oversee the development of the strategic plans for the operations department, as well as its implementation, ensuring that the operational plans are followed and delivered as expected
• Monitor performance of systems and develop action plans to remediate any degradation of service. Investigate aways of improving existing systems and processes and implementing appropriate solutions
• Promote a customer-focused culture within the operations department for the benefit of the RCBs including the establishment of service level agreements (SLAs) that guarantee quality of service and response to complaints
• Lead the negotiation and the delivery of service level agreements with external service providers and ensuring that SLAs are achieved to a high standard, taking corrective action in line with agreed stategies and plans
• Update and embed a culture of responsibility and branches unit they are resolved satisfactorily
• Lead the team to safeguard the Bank’s information assets in accordance with laid down policies and procedures
• Keep up-to-date with developments on risk issues within the banking industry, especially in the “back office” and ensuring this is cascaded to the branches and RCBs
• Lead in the development of an adequate plan for disaster recovery and carrying out back-ups of the bank’s data in line with best practice
• Drive th performance of immediate team members to ensure that time, quality and other set standards are achieved
vUpdate and sustain an integrated payments systems platform for the ARB Apex Bank and the RCBs that links up efficiently into the national payments system
• Expand both the local and international money transfer business of the bank and the RCBs
Qualification Required & Experience
• A minimum of a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline from a recognised university, preferably in ICT, banking and/or finance
• Membership of a recognised professional body
vAt least 10 years post qualification experience in the banking industry with 5 years in operations and ICT at senior management level
Knowledge and Skills
• Working knowledge of banking and the operations of the Bank of Ghana
• Knowledge of developments in ICT including the working of fintechs in the banking industry
