The Ashanti Goldfields Corporation is a gold mining company based in Ghana that was founded by Edwin Cade. The Ashanti Mine, located at Obuasi, 56 km south of Kumasi, has been producing since 1897. The mine is sited on one of the world’s major gold deposits and is one of the ten largest in the world.
In 1994, the Ghana government, the majority shareholder, announced plans to sell 20-25 percent of its interest in AGC in a share flotation. The company was listed on the London and Ghana stock exchanges. It was the largest flotation ever organised by any gold mining company coordinating and advisory team alone numbered over 200 people.

The Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) Maintenance Department of Tarkwa Gold Mine is seeking to employ a dedicated, experienced and self motivated individual to fill the position of Senior Engineer – HME Auto Electrical

The incumbent shall be responsible for ensuring the continuous planning and maintenance, within the HME Maintenance Unit, and the profitable and safe achievement of pre-planned targets and deliverables, through the building and maintenance of cohesive, well trained and well functioning teams. The incumbent will also be responsible to head the entire HME Auto Electrical section

  • Ensuring the achievement of high equipment availability and within industry standard
  • Ensuring that heavy mining equipment (HME) are maintained and positioned in line with Gold Fields Ghana operational requirements and objectives
  • Providing hands-on HME Auto Electrical specialist support for technical problem solving, fault diagnosing, failure analysis and repairs
  • Ensuring high equipment performance and equipment reliability
  • Develop and implement effective auto electrical maintenance system for heavy mining equipment
  • Implementing effective cost management and financial performance monitoring system
  • Establishing and maintaining high performance and cohesive teamwork
  • Enforcing health, safety and environmental procedures
  • Ensuring that effective maintenance standards and procedures are implemented  in compliance with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 requirements
  • Ensuring that HME employees are effectively trained, developed, and supervised
  • Communicating team goals and core values to team members and maintaining an acceptable performance management system
  • Implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Succession planning by means of proper training programs is essential

Required Job Skills:

Advertisement
  • Tertiary qualification in Auto Electrical/Electronic Engineering from a recognised institution
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in HME auto electrical maintenance system
  • Hands-on experience in Caterpillar Information Systems (CIS) and Electronic Technician (ET)
  • Sound experience in Caterpillar fleet – 785 Dump Trucks, D9 and D10T Dozers, 16H Graders, 992 FrontEnd Loaders
  • Leadership, cost management and budgeting skills
  • Project Management skills
  • SAP Proficiency
  • Interpersonal skills
