About the organization: Aspire Food Group is an international social enterprise dedicated to the sustainable practice of farming edible insects. With offices in the US and Ghana, Aspire seeks to farm locally desired insects as a way to address food insecurity. In Ghana, Aspire farms the palm weevil larva, a local delicacy that has been traditionally harvested. In addition, Aspire Ghana has also taught several hundred farmers in Southern and Central Ghana to be able to farm their own larva as a
a source of household animal protein and as an opportunity for increased income.

Aspire Ghana seeks to rapidly scale its production, co-develop packaged products, take advantage of export opportunities to other West African countries, support its network of farmers to scale their production and to
advance research on the palm weevil larvae.

Job Description

Job Title: Accounting And Finance Manager

About the Role:

Aspire is looking for a driven, goal-oriented, mindful, detail-oriented and hardworking accountant to be part of an exciting new venture with a strong social and environmental impact. The candidate will manage all of their bookkeeping, do financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and operational modeling.
The chosen candidate will report directly to the President of the organization but will work closely with the research, operations and field teams for the purposes of keeping accounts and for the purposes of analysis. While accounting is a critical role of this job, the chosen candidate must have an operational mindset and must be able to perform analysis and create models to inform strategic decisions.

The candidate must have three or more years of experience as an in-house accountant or accountant at a firm. He/She must be familiar with auditing, processing payroll and dealing with other tax arms of the Ghanaian government. There is a lot of potential for growth as we are a young and dynamic organization.

Tasks/Duties:

Keep all accounting records of the company
Maintain all receipt, invoice and banking records
Execute banking transactions and liaise with the organization’s banks at the direction of the President of the organization
Maintain and manage organization’s petty cash and mobile money account
Process monthly payroll
Model different production and processing methodologies
Create budgets for the organization’s growth and monitor budgeting progress
Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements Liaise with auditing firm for yearly audit process
Assist in other law-mandated record-keeping and filings of the organization
Can include more tasks/duties as the candidate progresses

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting
3+ years of accounting experience with a company or an accounting firm
Previous experience with a food, agriculture or food processing company is a strong asset
Must be living in Kumasi, Ghana

Compensation:

Commensurate with experience
Probationary period of 3 months, 10% increase after 3 months + health insurance after 3 months
Mobile allowance
Transportation allowance
