Bolgatanga Polytechnic Ghana: Rector

The Governing Council of Bolgatanga Polytechnic announces that the post of Rector of the Polytechnic is vacant.

The Position:

• The Rector is the Executive Head of the Polytechnic and is responsible under the Governing Council of the Polytechnic for both the academic and administrative functions of the Polytechnic
• The Rector is the Chief Disciplinary Officer of the Polytechnic and has authority over members of staff and the student body subject to the statutes of the Polytechnic
• The Rector is responsible for the promotion of quality higher education and research and the provision of academic and administrative leadership
• The Rector is responsible for setting and implementing the agenda within the Polytechnic’s broad strategic plan; initiating new directions in the academic development of the Polytechnic and protecting the integrity of the Polytechnic’s processes

Terms Of Appointment:

• The Appointment, which is full-time, shall be FOUR (4) YEARS in the first instance and may be subject to renewal for TWO (2) YEARS
• Salary and Conditions of Service attached to the position are attractive

Required Skills or Experience

The Person:

• Must be a distinquished scholar of repute who can inspire, direct and motivate staff
• Must have very rich experience and knowledge in tertiary educational Administration and Management
• Must be of unblemished character and have a high degree of personal integrity
• Must display creativity in vision and have mature and sober judgement
• Must exhibit a high sense of industry, leadership, and organisational skills
• Must possess excellent inter-personal and communication skills and capacity to manage and control crisis situations
• Must have exceptional fund raising abilities
• Must be business oriented and able to establish a rapport between industry and the Polytechnic
• Must have a minimum qualification of a PhD in Engineering, Applied Sciences or Social Sciences and must have a minimum of eight (8) years post qualification working experience in Senior Management Position in tertiary education or industry
• Must be able to serve a full four-year term of office before attaining the compulsory retiring age of sixty (60)
