Job Description

Job Title: Financial Director- Ghana

Role synopsis

BP is looking for a Financial Director, based in Ghana, to join our global trading division (Integrated Supply & Trading – IST) leading a new 50:50 Joint Venture (JV) between BP and a Ghanaian partner. Working with a world-class Trading organisation, you’ll play an integral role as Director of the Joint Venture board and Management Team, creating and delivering the commercial and financial strategy of the company.

Key accountabilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing the annual JV business plan for Shareholder approval
  • Managing the day 2 day financial management of the JV including costs, working capital, cash management and monitoring of open credit/escrow scheme and payments
  • Monitoring of JV banking relationships and financing arrangements including LC discounting
  • Owning key relationships with service providers and 3rd party bodies (Tax, Accounting, Audit & Regulatory)
  • Overseeing daily exposure, P&L and key performance metrics to ensure mark risks are properly managed with all JV transactions (physical and paper) are accurately presented in daily management information.

You will also play a key role in the creation of JV policy development, financial reporting process and provision of timely and accurate information to all parties. With a keen eye for details you will ensure compliant operation in accordance to local regulation or IFRS in addition to the establishment and maintenance of effective or efficient financial controls and processes region wide. This include all Delegations of Authorities, Segregation of Duties, and due diligence. As well as ensuring that exposure to credit risk and credit operation in accordance to terms of JV operating agreement you will oversee key staffing decisions and the development in functional areas of oversight in the JV.

Essential Education

You should be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA)

Essential experience and job requirements

To apply you should be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) with a deep knowledge of the accounting and reporting requirements in Ghana preferred. You should also have a proven record of working under pressure and delivering to tight deadlines and in addition, be able to interpret and communicate results and analysis. Highly professional and self-motivated, you’ll need to be an excellent communicator with the ability to network with BP staff and management across the business.
