The British High Commission (BHC) Accra has vacancy for an LE2 Trade Development Manager in the UK Trade & Investment section. UK Trade & Investment is the Government organization that helps UK based companies succeeds in international markets, and overseas companies to bring high quality investment to the UK’s vibrant economy. It has two parent government departments, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) and the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS)

The main elements of the job include:

Advising and supporting UK companies with their business interest in Ghana and responding to a large number of enquiries
Delivering a range of UKTI services to UK companies through the online Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS) and meeting challenging revenue targets
Regularly undertaking market research, preparing market information and arranging programmes and events for visiting UK companies
Taking the lead on specific sectors such as Oil & Gas, Construction, Agriculture, Environment and Water, Climate Change and Creative Industries, to promote UK capability and innovation to key contacts in Ghana
Producing and maintaining high quality sector reports and trade information to inform UK industry stakeholders of developments in Ghana to be published online
Organising trade delegation visits to Ghana and the UK, seminars, workshops and events
Building strong links with UK and Ghanaian organizations in order to understand the business climate and identify new opportunities for UK companies
Facilitate regular British Group meetings, encouraging a participatory environment to ensure they are productive and beneficial for those involved
Helping Ghanaian importers to establish links with British companies
Information for applicants:

The monthly salary range for LE2 positions in the BHC is GH¢1,780 (rising in increments of GH¢51 based on performance) to a maximum of GH¢ 2, 907. The starting salary will be determined by the successful applicant’s experience and skills, but will be in the range GH¢1, 780 to GH¢ 1, 985

The appointment will be offered initially on a 1 year contract, and subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period. Thereafter, the appointment will be renewed for periods of 3 years, subject to satisfactory performance, by mutual agreements

Required Skills or Experience

Prioritizing in a fast-paced work environment, working largely unsupervised and delivering to deadlines
Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise effectively under pressure
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
A good team player
Good organizational skills
Ability to think strategically and creatively – to identify the potential for joining up different strands of activity between the UKTI global network, HNC teams and between the BHC, DRID, British Council and Partners Across Government (PAGS); and to embrace change and opportunities to do things better/differently’
Computer literate with Microsoft Widows, Word, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint, and able to manage the information effectively with available computer systems, database and website
A good sense of marketing in order to present a positive and professional image to UK & Ghanaian stakeholders/customers, both in terms of communication and presentation of services
The successful applicant is likely to have one or more of the following:
Educated to degree level (or equivalent work experience) preferably in a business/marketing related field
Comprehensive knowledge of the Ghanaian private and public sectors and economy in general
An understanding of international trade issues
Public speaking skills
The successful applicant will need to:
