Reporting to the Resident Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Ensure that safe and conducive environment prevails within and around all work areas
Assist in the formulation of Safety policies, rules and regulations
Conduct induction on safety training for new employees
Monitor and ensure that safety equipment are in good conditions are provided at all predetermined locations
Ensure that each employee acquires adequate knowledge of the locations, intended purpose(s) and operational skills required for the use of safety wears/equipment provided
Ensure adherence to the project site safety rules and regulations
Monitor application of safety standards on regular basis and periodically review existing safety rules, regulations and standards
Ensure that the Contractor complies with Security/Safety regulations in the conduct of its activities
Make adequate arrangements to ensure that the Contractor’s safety/security plan adheres to the National Fire Protection and Prevention Regulations

Required Skills or Experience

BSc Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution with a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in the Safety function or a good HND in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution with a minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience in the Safety function
Must have experience in hands-on safety management responsibility in the power industry
Must be able to write and compile reports
Must be able to conduct safety training and inductions
Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
