Job Description

Job Title: Head of Internal Audit

Responsible for planning, executing and reporting on operational, financial, regulatory and compliance related audits of the Bank

To ensure that transactions are undertaken on sound financial basis and in conformity with internal control systems and procedures, regulations, approved manual, budget and policies with the view of protecting the resources of the organisation

Duties and Responsibilities

• To provide leadership and managerial direction to the internal audit team
• Develop an internal audit strategy, manual, plan and work programmes for the approval of the board of Directors
• Plan and carry out audit duties in accordance with audit manual, plans and programmes
• Review existing controls and practices with the view of bringing out weakness and making innovative recommendations for improved financial operations and management efficiencies
• Examining records, reports, practices and documents to ascertain the organisational compliance with established internal control procedures
• Monitor the timely implementation of management actions to recommendations of audit reports
• Carry out investigations and special assignment on request by management and the Board
• Prepare and submit periodic on work performed during the period for the attention of the Board and Management
• To supervise all audit works and advise on measures to put in place to rectify all external audit queries and the Bank of Ghana on-site examination lapses
• To maintain a high level of integrity and to provide a service of value to the Board and management in terms of decision making

Qualification Required & Experience

Skills Required

• Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline with 4 years working experience or
• First Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline with 6 years working experience or
• Level 2 of ICA Ghana, ACCA or related professional qualification with 6 years working experience

Technical competence

• Experience in banking systems with knowledge in T24 banking application software
• Must possess considerable knowledge in financial regulations (Banking Act, companies code, etc) as well as professional accounting and auditing standards
• Good IT skills and proficient in the use of Excel spreadsheet, Word, Power Point, Access
• Strong professional ethics, excellent communication, organisational and time management skills and ability to work in a high pressure environment
