As the fastest growing business magazine title in Ghana, Business World seeks a savvy Deputy Editor, who is ready to help take the magazine to the next level.
Reporting directly to the Editor in Chief, the Deputy Editor will develop fresh story ideas, deal with freelance writers and maintain the high standard of journalism for which it is renowned.
The right applicant will be an intelligent self-starter with a talent for writing and a passion for business journalism. They will be a proactive team player ready to set the news agenda in Ghana.
Business World houses a small friendly and enthusiastic team that is driven by excellence and offers editorial staff the opportunity to contribute directly to the development and success of the magazine and the company.
Salary range will depend on experience.
You must show examples of your previous work and prove that you can handle the challenge of a fast-paced newsroom.
Work closely with the Managing Editor, developing story leads and ideas
Research, commission and edit articles
Manage day-to-day operations of Business World and soon to be launched website
Assist in managing workflow
Deal with freelance writers
Assist with picture research
Represent Business World at events
Deputise for Editor in chief in his absence
Required Skills or Experience
A self-starter with excellent organisational skills
Reliable, responsible, with a strong work ethic
A savvy writer, who takes pride in quality journalism and is brimming with ideas
Must be fluent in both written and spoken English
Previous magazine, newswire or newspaper experience essential
Can meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Has a passion for business and good journalism
Is familiar with the online medium
Has a friendly and professional attitude and is a team player
