1. project officer:

Job Description

CARE International is looking for two (2) dynamic, experienced and motivated persons to fill the positions of Project Officer (PO) on the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership Project. The project aims to improve livelihoods in cocoa-growing communities and secure cocoa production in parts of the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions.
The Project Officer 1 will be responsible for the operational and tactical management of project activities – planning, organizing, implementing and directing. The 2 POs will be based in Kumasi and will be required to travel to project communities in Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and Western Regions (in the future).  The POs will report directly to the Project Manager in the Cocoa Livelihoods and Empowerment Programme (CLEP) Office in Kumasi.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR PROJECT OFFICER 1

  • Work with project manager in preparation of work plans, capacity building modules, planning and delivery of project activities by Project Facilitators and other partners at the District level
  • Facilitate, develop, manage and supervise relationships and activities of beneficiary communities and collaborating partners
  • Facilitate and support all M&E processes of the project
  • Ensure timely provision of logistics to Project Facilitators in the execution of project activities and ensure efficient management of project resources.
  • Provide on-site supervision, monitoring and support to district project staff, communities and other stakeholders
  • Compile and submit monthly project field reports in a timely manner

 

Required Skills or Experience

 

  • First degree in agriculture, social science, community development, education etc.
  • Three years post qualification experience in a cocoa community development project management environment,
  • Relevant experience in capacity building activities and working with cocoa farming communities, CBOs, traditional institutions, NGOs and public sector agencies
  • Strategic and conceptual thinking ability
  • Critical thinking, creative and analytical
  • Excellent communication skills and good team player
  • Experience in facilitating linkages, relationship building and networking
  • Experienced in smallholder agri-business and capacity building
  • Good speaking and writing skills in English and ability to communicate in Twi (Akan)

 

2.  FIELD AGENT (4 CANDIDATES)

Job Description

 

CARE International is looking for four (4) dynamic, experienced and motivated persons to fill the positions of Field Agent on the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership Project. The project aims to improve livelihoods in cocoa-growing communities and secure cocoa production, in parts of the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions.

FIELD AGENT (4 CANDIDATES)
The Field Agents will be based in Amansie West and Asunafo North districts in the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions respectively and will be required to travel to averagely 18 and 20 communities respectively within each district. The Field Agents will report directly to the Project Facilitators responsible for each District and stationed in the District capitals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Field Agents will assist the Project Facilitators (PF) in implementing the Project at the district and community level including;

  • Work with Project Facilitator in the preparation of work plans, capacity building modules, planning and delivery of training sessions.
  • Support awareness creation and sensitisation activities in project partner communities
  • Support PF in the conduct of Community Mobilisation and the development of Community Action Plans.
  • Attend all project-related meetings involving project community partners.
  • Submit monthly reports to Project Facilitator on project implementation.
  • Ensure monthly documentation of project best practices
  • Assist the PF in the preparation of monthly forecast and quarterly financial and activity reports.
  • Support project M&E Assistant to implement the M&E plan (SROI Framework) and monitor its implementation in the districts.
  • Lead community sensitization and interventions in all participating communities in collaboration with partners and in line with project objectives
  • Monitor implementation of Community action Plans
  • Monitor and evaluate activities of all partners and submit reports to the Project Facilitator

 

Required Skills or Experience

 

  • A first degree in Agriculture, or related field
  • At least Two years of practical experience in working with communities, Community Based Organisations (CBOs) especially Farmer-based Organizations (FBOs) and other NGOs
  • Experience in facilitating linkages, relationship building and networking
  • Experience in Adult Training Methodologies such as the use of PRA/PLA tools
  • Good spoken English, excellent writing skills in English with excellent spoken Twi (Akan)
  • Computer skills.
  • Ability to ride a motor bike (valid motor riding license)
  • Willingness to live in a rural community and travel throughout all communities in the respective districts
  • Appreciable working knowledge of Akan customary practices

3. Project Officer

The Project Officer 2 will be responsible for Activity Monitoring and evaluation, analysis, report writing and other project activities. Position is based in Kumasi.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (PO2):

  • Responsible for generating all project reports incorporating data and information from the M&E Officer for review by Project Manager
  • Monitor Project Implementation against annual work plan
  • Keep the Project manager advised of progress and raise issues with him that may impact on the successful outcome of the project
  • Ensure reporting timelines are complied with for all internal and donor reports
  • Liaise with M&E Officer and PO1 for regular documentation of project learning and best practices
  • Facilitate and organise quarterly District Stakeholder Committee meetings
  • Support the PM in dissemination of information and knowledge generated through the project widely and effectively to stakeholders including CCP PCU

 

Required Skills or Experience

 

  • First degree in agriculture, social science or Bachelor’s degree plus significant relevant working experience
  • Three years relevant post qualification experience in a cocoa community development project management environment,
  • Relevant experience in capacity building activities and working with cocoa farming communities, CBOs, traditional institutions, NGOs and public sector agencies
  • Strategic and conceptual thinking ability
  • Critical thinking, creative and analytical
  • strong demonstrable report writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills and good team player
  • Experience in facilitating linkages, relationship building and networking
  • Experienced in smallholder agri-business and capacity building

4. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

CARE International is looking for one (1) dynamic, experienced and motivated person to fill the position of Monitoring and Evaluation Officer on the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership Project. The project aims to improve livelihoods in cocoa-growing communities and secure cocoa production, in parts of the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions.

MONITORING & EVALUATION OFFICER
The M&E Officer will be responsible for the implementation of the project M&E plan which is essentially based on the Social Return on Investment (SROI) framework and assist the project team to monitor and report on the project outcomes. The M&E Officer will be based in Kumasi and will be required to travel to all project communities in Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and Western Regions (in the future).  The M&E Officer will report directly to the Project Manager in the Cocoa Livelihoods and Empowerment Programme (CLEP) Office in Kumasi.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the design and implementation of the M&E plan (SROI Framework) in conjunction with Programme Coordinating Unit (PCU) and other Implementing Partner Staff of the Cadbury Cocoa Partnership in Ghana
  • Maintain and operate a management information system of all project training activities that is periodically updated to reflect progress and performance
  • Generate and provide required information and data on all variables and indicators (activity, outcome and impact levels) required for preparing regular project implementation and progress reports
  • Support Project Manager to comply with Donor and CARE reporting Requirements
  • Work with CLEP M&E Officer to ensure linkages and synergy between Cadbury Cocoa Project and other projects in the CLEP program.

 

Required Skills or Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Agricultural Economics or Management Information System with experience in rural development and agriculture
  • Strong practical knowledge in database development, management and analysis.
  • Three years post qualification experience in a community development project management environment,
  • Relevant experience in capacity building activities and working with farming communities, CBOs, traditional institutions, NGOs and public sector agencies
  • Strategic and conceptual thinking ability
  • Critical thinking, creative and analytical
