Job Description

Job Title: Project Manager – Maternal and Child Health

Reports to: CRS Program Manager -Health
Job Summary:
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) has been working in Ghana since 1958 in Health, Agriculture, Peace Building, Water and Sanitation, Microfinance and Education programs. CRS seeks a Project Manager to lead its team in the management and implementation of it maternal and child health project activities in Northern and Volta regions
You will manage, coordinate, and monitor project activities and relationships with partners and other project stakeholders to assist the achievement of the maternal and child health project objectives. Your project management skills and knowledge of the program area will ensure that the CP delivers high-quality programming and continuously works towards improving the impact of this project.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
Lead technical, budget management, monitoring and reporting activities through the project cycle – start-up, implementation and close-out – in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and best practices.
Ensure learning properly accompanies project activities throughout the project cycle. Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities following MEAL Policy. Proactively identify issues, report them to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules.
Engage and strengthen partnerships relevant to the maternal and child health project, applying appropriate application of partnership concepts, tools and approaches.
Provide coaching, strategically tailor individual development plans, contribute to the recruitment process of project staff, and complete performance management for direct reports.
Represent the organization with donors, INGO working groups, UN, relevant local partners and relevant local government and community actors for maternal and child health programming area.
Coordinate activities required for ensuring the financial, material and human resources for the quality implementation of the project. Conduct periodic budget reviews and follow-up with partners on timely submission of financial reports to facilitate proper tracking of resource use.
Identify staff capacity needs and technical assistance needs of partner organizations and contribute to capacity strengthening and required interventions to support quality project implementation.
Assist with preparation of trends analysis reports and disseminate results. Review project documentation to ensure project file is complete with all required documentation and is filed per agency and donor requirements.
Other Duties/Assignments:
Carry out any other duties/assignments as shall from time to time be directed by your supervisor.

Required Skills or Experience

Required Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications

Advanced Degree in Public Health, Nutrition or in the field of maternal and child health (MCH) would be a plus
Minimum of 7 years of work experience in development projects preferably in MCH project planning, monitoring and evaluation, at a supervisory level.
Five years’ experience with supporting Ghana Health Service at the Regional, District and Sub-district levels

Proven experience in managing partnership relationships in a participatory manner, managing teams and project implementation plans
Experience in budgeting and budget management.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, cultural sensitivity, ability to work with people, good judgment and commitment to the Agency’s mission
Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet, etc.).
Willingness to travel in-country and internationally as required by the Agency.

External: Ghana Health Services and other internal and external research partners
