Central Ashanti Gold Limited (‘CAGL’) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Perseus Mining Limited, a company listed on the Australian and Toronto Stock Exchanges. The Company is developing the Central Ashanti Gold Project near Ayanfuri in the Central Region of Ghana. The project has an expected mine life of 10 years.

Job Description

Central Ashanti Gold Limited, which is currently developing a gold mine located near Ayanfuri, is inviting applications for the above position, from suitably qualified and experienced persons. The Company offers competitive remuneration packages commensurate with the candidates’ qualifications and experience.

Brief details of position are as follows:

The position is based in the Company’s Accra Office, reporting to the Financial Controller (Ghana). The purpose is to service the Accra based Exploration Department’s financial information, needs and produce timely and reliable monthly management reports and information.

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to:

• Preparation of monthly exploration and administration reports, including variance analysis on variations between actual results and budget
• Preparation of monthly accounting journals including prepayments, accruals, amortisation, and depreciation, etc, and ad-hoc accounting journals related to statutory report preparation
• Responsible for performing monthly General Ledger reconciliations
• Prepare ad-hoc reporting or analysis requests
• Prepare and provide all information related to Exploration activities that is required by the Financial Controller (Ghana) to be prepared quarterly, and year-end statutory reports for two related companies
• Prepare and maintain fixed asset register
• Assist the Financial Controller (Ghana) by providing relevant information required by completion of the annual tax return, and monthly WHT, and VAT returns
• Preparation and submission of timely and accurate cash calls for review by the Financial Controller (Ghana) and the Exploration Manager
• Ensure cash is managed for the short term needs of the Exploration Department
• Reconciliation of all Exploration Department bank accounts, and petty cash
• Effectively supervise the Exploration Pay ables Officer

Required Skills or Experience

• Fully qualified or part-qualification of a professional accounting body
• A university degree or its equivalent
• Demonstrable experience working for at least three years in a management accounting position in an exploration environment
• Good knowledge of budgeting and forecasting issues and techniques
• Strong knowledge of Pronto software will be an advantage
• Effective English communication, time management, and interpersonal skills
