Compassion International, an International Evangelical Development Organisation, urgently seeks Public Relations Specialist III for its Ghana field office.

Job Description

Job Title: Public Relations Specialist III

The key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of compassion and faithfully upholds Compassions’s ministry in prayer
• Acts as an advocate for children – raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one’s influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children
• Develops, regulates and maintains creative, clear and consistent communication materials in support of the organisation’s marketing, public relations and internal communications strategies, that
align with the organisation’s brand/identify and core messaging
• Plans, develops and publishes external communication (including press kits, press releases, annual reports, byline articles, storylines/pitch decks, web content, corporate messaging and other PR vehicles). He or she may also develop and maintain lines of communication with media contacts and other external audience groups
• Coordinates with media prepare and relay communication concerning the organisation for the press and wider community with the purpose of enhancing relationships with all of the organisation’s various publics in order to generate mutual understanding, goodwill, awareness and support.
• Works cross-functionally to maintain the organization’s brand, including updating the style guide and editorial standards/policies
• Is responsible for budgeting and planning for baseline surveys and other monitoring and evaluation activities in the National office
• Coaches and provides expertise to other professionals and support staff in the public relation discipline

Qualification Required & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
• Licenses and certification Accredited in Public relations credential, marketing communications specialist certificate or similar credential. Equivalent additional education, experience, training, or certification may be substituted for specified certificate
• Experience At least 7 years of experience working in this position or field
• Work environment: Office – Standard office environment
• Physical Demands: Sitting, standing and/or walking for up to 8 hours per day
• Travel requirement: may be required to travel up to 10% of normal schedule
Essential job functional competencies

• Strong understanding of holistic child development
• Effective communication skills (both orally & in writing)
• Physical Demands: Sitting, standing and or walking for up to 8 hours per day
• Traditional and social media relations skills, including an understanding of the use of social network tools
• Must demonstrate an ability to pay attention to detail and show creativity
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
