The CSIR is a semi-autonomous Corporation with the mandate to pursue the implementation of Government policies on scientific research and development; encourage coordination of scientific research for the management, utilisation and conservation of the natural resources of Ghana; and to advise Government on scientific and technological advances likely to be of importance to national development. Established in its present form in October 1968 as Ghana’s premier S & T Research and Development organisation, the CSIR now operates under the mandate of CSIR Act 521 of 1996, which among other things, empowers it to commercialsie its research activities.

Research Scientist (Entomologist) Jobs in Ghana

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ghanaians for the following vacant position within the CSIR-Plant Genetic Resources Research Institute (PGRRI), Bunso.

The successful candidate will perform the following duties:

Carry out research projects and undertake regular inspection and identification of insect pest problems in field genebanks, seed collections and regeneration plots
Develop and implement integrated pest management in ex-situ tree crop conservation
Design experiments to screen for insect resistance/tolerance in crop germplasm

Required Skills or Experience

M.Phil or a Master’s degree by research in Entomology from a recognised University
Must have at least three (3) years working experience
A PhD degree plus good knowledge in insect ecology and Crop Protection will be an advantage

2. Research Scientist (Plant Pathologist) Jobs in Ghana

Carry out research projects and undertake regular inspection of nurseries and fields for the presence of plant diseases
Identify disease problems in nurseries, fields genebanks and regeneration fields and develop appropriate control measures
Adopt appropriate seed health measures to ensure proper phytosanitation of plant germplant in cold storage

Duty Station: Bunso, Eastern Region

Required Skills or Experience

M.Phil or a Master’s degree by research in Plant Protection from a recognized University
At least three (3) years working experience
A PhD degree plus good knowledge in Crop Protection and Seed Pathology will be an advantage

3. Research Scientist (Plant Physiology With Tissue Culture Background) Jobs in Ghana

Conduct research and develop protocols for effective conservation of plants in-vitro

Required Skills or Experience

M.Phil or a Master’s degree by research in Plant Physiology with Tissue Culture background from a recognised University ( plus a minimum of two (2) years working experience). A Ph.d degree plus good knowledge in tissue culture is an advantage
