Job Description

Job Title: Marine Quantity Surveyor

We provide professional services in areas such as aviation, transit, freight rail, highways and bridges, planning, and ports and marine. Our global network of top-tier specialists delivers comprehensive services over the full life cycle of a project to benefit clients in government and private industries.
Job Summary The Quantity Surveyor would be carrying out the normal duties and functions which occur within a professional Quantity Surveying office.

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for

  • Preparing estimates of construction costs;
  • Measurement of building quantities for bill preparation and final accounts;
  • Drafting Bills of Quantities;
  • Site visits and site measurement;
  • Participating in progress meetings;
  • Preparing valuations for issue of interim payment certificates;
  • Ability to identify, evaluate and conclude variations
  • Preparing and concluding final accounts;
  • Participating in tender evaluations including comparison of bids
  • General quantity surveying best practice responsibilities
  • May be required to assist with other responsibilities, deemed necessary by AECOM

Specific skills required

Advertisement
  • Knowledge of the programme development cycle (engineering, procurement and construction) and understanding of construction sequencing;
  • Strong technical, procedure and report writing skills;
  • Ability to collate information accurately;
  • Communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Time management and prioritization skills.

Person Specification (Personality Attributes)

  • Attention to detail with a capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Empathy towards staff and colleagues;
  • Staff training skills;
  • Ability to manage a small staff.

Additional Comments

  • Eligibility to work in Ghana due to nationality.

    Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Quantity Surveying;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience on large (>USD 50 million) construction projects;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the employ of an QS or engineering consulting firm;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working for an international construction contractor or consulting firm.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree of Science in Quantity Surveying
  • Professional Membership
