Vodafone Ghana, formerly Ghana Telecom, is the national telecommunications company of Ghana. In 2006, it had around 400,000 customers for fixed and mobile telephony and Internet services.

On 3 August 2008 it was announced that Vodafone had agreed to acquire 70% of Ghana Telecom from the Ghanaian government at a cost of US$900 million and a total enterprise value of approximately US$1.3 billion. After the transaction closed, Vodafone had a 70% stake in the company, while the Ghanaian government retained a 30% stake. The sale was supported by president John Agyekum Kufuor but strongly opposed by the opposition party which would win the presidential elections a few months later. The new president John Atta Mills, head of the National Democratic Congress party (NDC) also launched an investigation into the deal after being elected president a claiming that the government “did not get value for money”. Despite these claims Vodafone a few months later would write down the value of its stake in Ghana Telecom by £250m as the economic climate worsened, damaging the business’s prospects.

Job Description

Job Title: Telesales Relationship Executive

Role Purpose

The Telesales relationship Executive (TRE) is responsible for managing the active and inactive base of assigned customers to achieve set targets. As the TRE will be responsible for building a Fixed Broadband customer base that will bring in constant revenue to Vodafone, reactivating customers and preventing them from going into locked, upgrading their plan when possible. The TRE shall own faults encountered in the process of engagement with the customer and ensure trust is built in the mind of the customer. The TRE will identify and work to delight customers and ultimately support the commercial objective of the business.

Key accountabilities and decision ownershipCustomer lifecycle

  • To follow propensity models provided to target selected customers with reactivation offers
  • Be enlightened on FBB policies, payment channels, and products
  • Own the management of faults and follow through on a resolution to meet customer’s expectations.

Revenue generating base

  • Ensure timely and consistent payment behavior by customers
  • Based on customers’ usage analysis upgrade customers on the most relevant FBB plan
  • Meet set revenue target for the Telesales team.

Customer Intelligence

  • Capture and record in appropriate format customer’s feedback, behavior, and service and product pain-points.

Customer Experience Delivery

  • Champion the delivery of superior customer experience by interacting professionally and within the boundaries of Vodafone Ghana’s Customer experience tenets.

Core Competencies, Knowledge, And Experience

  • An Excellent Sales and Marketing background and experience.
  • Ability to effectively profile and manage an allocated customer base.
  • An excellent follow-up and convincing skills.
  • A good understanding of Contact Centre processes and customer management skills.
  • Customer service & Sales oriented personality.
  • Planning and good organizational skills
  • Excellent analytical skills (Fluent with numbers)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Prior Experience

  • Desired experience as account executive or other sales capacity within a service-oriented organization
  • Prior experience in the telecoms industry is a plus but not a requirement.
  • An experience in Telesales and marketing field will be a plus

Must Have Technical / Professional Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Higher National Diploma certificate in Sales and Marketing from an accredited institution.
  • A good first degree in Sales and Marketing will be a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Particularly MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Good analytical and reporting skills
  • Excellent numerical acumen
