The Driver & Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) intends reorganizing and repositioning Public Relations in order to ensure the effective management of:

  • Communications Strategy Management
  • Stakeholder Relations Management
  • Media Relations
  • Crisis Management
  • Publications
  • Protocol and Event Management
  • Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC)
  • Public Relations Writing and Public Speaking

The Vision of the DVLA is to create a strong public sector corporate brand in the country and specifically among the cluster of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), which is responsible and responsive to all her internal and external stakeholders in the realm of communications.

The Authority therefore intends to recruit a Manager, Public Relations who will be a strategic Communications thinker, with strong interpersonal, good spoken and written communications skills. The right candidate must be an effective performer, result oriented and will be expected to go beyond the call of duty and conventional working schedules.
 

Required Skills or Experience

The professional chosen will:

  • Undertake activities to ensure good relations between DVLA and all her stakeholders and assist in enhancing her image
  • Liaise with the Chief Executive, Heads of all Divisions/Units and other Heads or designated officials in other to engage in effective advocacy for the Authority
  • Implement the Strategic Communications Document’s demands in terms of the Vision, Mission, Medical Relations Strategy, Crises Management Strategy, and Work Plan
  • Supervise the Management of all events, publicity and protocol functions for the Authority
  • Oversee the preparation of the appropriate information and other data on the Authority for her website and update the website regularly
  • Edit a News Letter, produce Annual Reports, Quarterly Reports, Media Monitoring Reports, Write Speeches, Press Releases, Features and Commercials for the media
  • Represent the Authority and Functions, on Radio and TV programmes and grant interviews to the Media

The successful candidate should possess:

  • A minimum of First Degree in Public Relations, Journalism or Communication Studies or Degree in a related field with a minimum of eight (8) years relevant working experience
  • Be a member of the Institute of Public Relations (IPR) or any relevant professional body or association
  • Have computer skills, especially in one or more of the following: Word, Excel, Power Point or any publishing software
  • Be thirty-five (35) years or more
