Energy Commission Ghana: Technical Director

The Energy Commission, an energy regulator, established by an act of Parliament, Act 541 for the regulation, management, development and utilisation of energy resources in Ghana seeks a results-oriented individual for the position.

Provide direction and advice in the regulation, management, development and utilization of energy resources of Ghana
Plan and implement programmes and activities of the Technical Directorate
Regulate the power and natural gas industry
Design regulatory framework for electricity, natural gas, renewable energy and energy efficiency and conservation
Monitor and evaluate standards of performance of the utility companies in the power and natural gas industry
Design programmes for the promotion of renewable energy, energy efficiency and conservation
Provide policy advice on climate change and conservation developments in Ghana
Recommend strategies and plans to attract private sector investment and competition into the power sub-sector
Initiate policy options relating to the power and natural gas sectors for the consideration of the Commission

Required Skills or Experience

Masters degree or higher in Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical/Petroleum Engineering
At least 10 years working experience in the energy sector (with at least 5 years in senior management position)
Utility experience, PhD in Engineering or MBA will be an added advantage
Computer literacy and excellent knowledge and skills in the use of Microsoft Office
Technical expertise in the field of Electricity, Renewable Energy Technologies, Natural Gas, Energy Planning and Energy Policy
A strong coordination capacity and ability to inspire teams to complete challenging tasks
Be influential, confident and amiable
Have Creative thinking and problem solving skills
Ability to produce reports without the assistance of secretaries or typists
Excellent interpersonal skills and drive to deliver
Ability to communicate at the most senior level
