Job Title: Senior Project Manager

Overview of Job:

With their ability to apply project management principles, the incumbent will lead a team of 5 engineers and provide project specialized services in water and civil infrastructure related roads and pavement engineering. The incumbent must ensure projects are implemented to meet quality,
schedule and budget targets for the entire portfolio.

Assignment: Permanent

Provide guidance and training to Senior Engineers, Engineers and Technicians.
Manage overall portfolio of projects for the entire company.
Liaise with client on project progress, risks, variation orders and programme related communication.

Controls project costs by approving expenditures; administering contractor contracts.
Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies;
preparing cost estimates.
Maintains a costing system to monitor costs to date and the project final contract value.
Design, Reporting and Project Management of projects in infrastructural services to meet projects objectives.
Putting together the proposals, tender and contract documents for all projects.
Carry out site supervision of construction works for short durations on sites to ensure compliance with design/specifications and standards.
Attending site meetings.
Preparation of reports.
Reviewing project proposals and plans to ensure that the project objectives are being met.
Confirm product performance by designing and conducting tests.
Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements.
Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
Required to monitor the Contractor’s progress on site and keeps in contact with the clients via the Project Leader.
Refer significant queries on design or any engineering matters to the Head of Engineering together with approval of materials and alternative design
proposals.
To apply relevant and applicable clauses of General Conditions of Contract to the project.
Liaison with the Contract Site Agent.
Ensure that the contractor and the staff understand the obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Assist with Environmental Management of the contractor’s work.
Attend and / or chair formal site meetings with contractor or client.
Preparation, drafting and submitting minutes of Technical and Site Meetings.
Issue site instructions to the contractor.
Monitors progress as per approved construction programme and negotiates rectification of delays and work not scheduled.
Checks and certifies monthly payment certificates for payment by the client.
Prepare Variation Orders for approval by the engineer and client.
Assist the Engineer with the preparation of a list of outstanding works for the progression to Completion Certificates.
Upon project completion all “as built” drawings and Construction Reports are to be arranged.
Comply with international standards and state regulations.

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of 20 years engineering and project management experience in infrastructure development.
Degree in Engineering, Professional and Project Management qualification
Professional Registration: PrEng/PrTechEng, PMP, PrCPM
Computer Literate on MS Office and MS Project Software
International travel required to clients and project sites
Drivers Licence
