Administrative Jobs in Ghana

Founded in 2010, Exponential Education is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that works with students in developing countries, helping them improve their learning levels and empowering them to become successful, socially conscious future leaders.

To date, Exponential Education has worked with over 45 schools throughout the eastern and central region of Ghana, and, to date, the program has now given over 45 college scholarships, provided over 225 high school students with tuition assistance, and given free tutoring in math and English to over 1125 junior high students. Combined with our other initiatives, Exponential Education has a total reach of over 2000 children.

Our organization is comprised of multiple initiatives, including our well-known Exponential Education Peer to Peer programs, our newly established Girls Leadership, Engagement, Action Program (LEAP), and Expo NEWTS. This term, we will be piloting a new boy’s program in order to address gender inequality more wholesomely.

Program:  The aim of the club is to sensitize boys to recognize social norms underlying gender inequality and empower them to become agents of change by challenging these norms. The club will cover the topics of masculinity and violence with a focus on gender-based violence, power and relationships, gender roles and gender stereotyping, and life skills, such as how to deal with and express our feelings. The goal is to work towards eliminating gender inequalities that hold back the development of our communities and nation, while also freeing boys of the restraints that masculinities can create, so they, too, can lead happier and healthier lives.

The objectives of our program are:

  • Create a safe space for boys to learn and speak about masculinities and violence, gender norms underlying gender inequality, power and relationships, and emotional wellbeing
  • Engage boys in critical reflection and dialogue about gender equality via participatory sessions and activities
  • Encourage boys to be agents of positive change and allies in the fight against gender inequality
  • Encourage boys to reflect critically upon the world in which they live and their own experiences and apply that learning at a personal and community level
  • Provide information of local resources and referrals for the boys to use if/when they’re faced with a problem

The desired outcomes of our program are for boys to:

  • Learn to deal with feelings and expressing one’s self freely
  • Understand gender roles underlying gender inequality
  • Recognize that just because you are male does not mean you have to resort to violence
  • Learn how to cope with anger in a healthy way
  • Understand gender-based violence and recognize sexual harassment/assault/violence is never acceptable
  • Feel empowered to be agents of positive change at a personal and community level
