The Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC) was established by an (Act 613) in 2002. Under section 9 of Act 613, regional and districts offices of GAC were to be established and each office should be provided with public officers by President acting in accordance with the advice of the Commission in consultants with the Public Services Commission. To strengthen the HIV response at the regional and district levels the GAC, Development Partners and Stakeholders have agreed to the establishment of Technical Support Units (TSUs) in all the ten regional capitals. This has been ratified by the Commission. The Government of Ghana, Development Partners and Stakeholders have declared their commitment to the progress.

Job Description

The Ghana AIDS Commission therefore has vacancies for the under-listed and invites application from persons with the requisite specifications to apply for consideration.

Objective of Position:
To carry out activities related to tracking of the performance of the HIV and AIDS response at the regional and district levels to strengthen the decentralized M & E system and improving data quality and reporting at district, regional and national levels.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Apply approved M & E tools, reporting formats and indicators to track the performance of intervention programmes
  2. Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of activities on HIV and AIDS programmes by all stakeholders;
  3. Coordinate capacity building and training in partnership with the Regional and District AIDS Committees for key implementers (MMDAs, private sector, civil society etc) at the decentralized level
  4. Assist with quarterly coordination meetings involving all key actors at the regional level and facilitate same at the district level in partnership with the District AIDS Committees
  5. Support all regional and district level surveillance, operational research and surveys to generate strategic information from both the general population and most at risk populations
  6. Assist in the collection and analyses of data on HIV and AIDS programmes
  7. Support the region and districts to apply locally generated data in evidence based planning and programming for results
  8. Assist in the preparation of quarterly technical reports including monitoring and evaluation activities
  9. Under take any activities as directed by the Director

Required Skills or Experience

Advertisement
  1. A first degree in the Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies, Public Health or any of the Health Sciences
  2. Must have completed one year post degree national service
  3. Must be a team player
  4. Proficiency in use of computer and internet skills
  5. Experience in M&E and generating reports is an advantage
