Job Description
Purpose:
To control, supply and distribute drugs to ensure quality healthcare to patients
Supervises the formulation/compounding of various pharmaceuticals including mixtures, syrups, ointments, lotions etc or patients and outstation clinics
Supervises counter dispensing, counsels patients on correct usage of drugs, checks prescriptions for possible incompatibilities/interactions, filling and correct labeling of prescriptions for patients
Makes requisitions to medical stores and keeps good and up-to-date records of all drugs issued to the dispensary
Supervises issues (drugs/dressings) to other units, wards, theatre, laboratory, etc
Institutes control measures in order to check drug movements in the dispensary
Keeps an up-to-date records on all dangerous drugs as specified in the Dangerous Drugs Act Book
Provides information to Chief Pharmacist and other members of the healthcare team with regard to the use of any drug
Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Required Skills or Experience
A degree in Pharmacy (Ghana) or from any institution outside with reciprocal agreement with Ghana
Must be registered Pharmacist and of goodstanding with pharmacy Council with 3-5 years post qualification experience
