Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Geoscientists

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of Senior Geoscientists, the ideal candidate(s) would be required to:

Conduct geological (field) mapping and collect rock samples for petrographical and geochemical investigations/analysis
Participate in field research to determine the occurrence and distribution of economic minerals in various part of the country
Participate in various geological, geophysical, geochemical, seismological, geotechnical and other surveys periodically undertaken by the Authority.
Assist in the collection, compilation, analysis and interpretation of geoscience data, including clays and ceramic materials
Any other work assigned by the Management of GGSA in furtherance of the Authority’s objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Candidates for this position must:

possess a minimum of Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Geosciences awarded by a tertiary institution.
have at least two (2) years relevant experience in a reputable public or private sector organisation.
have completed the statutory National Service
have good interpersonal and communication skills
be computer literate Knowledge in and ability to use various geoscientific software such as ArcGIS, Mapinto, QGIS, Delta GrA
