Job Description
Job Title: Policy And Research Officer
The position is tenable for an initial period of one year with the possibility of renewal based on performance.
The successful candidate will be based in Accra.
The officer will work with an experienced team at the Labour Research and Policy Institute of the TUC (Ghana) and other staff of the TUC (Ghana) secretariat.
Responsibilities:
Conducting research and preparing policy documents for the TUC (Ghana) on a wide variety of social and economic issues.
Representing the TUC (Ghana) in different organisations, institutions and forums on socioeconomic issues.
Assisting member unions of the TUC (Ghana) with the development or strengthening of their capacity for research and policy intervention on socio-economic issues.
Preparing speeches for the leadership of the TUC (Ghana) on a wide range of social and economic issues.
Building a solid image of workers’ solidarity of the TUC (Ghana) in the media in the area of social and economic policies.
Tasks:
Work with other colleagues to develop research programmes for the TUC (Ghana).
Undertake and coordinate research projects on social and economic issues.
Write and edit research reports, policy papers, speeches, articles.
Lobby and advocate TUC’s social and economic policies.
Participate actively in national. regional and international meetings and forums on behalf of the TUC (Ghana).
Provide skills training for Researchers and Policy Officers of affiliates unions.
Communicate with media.

Required Skills or Experience
Completed Masters Degree in Economics, political science or in other fields.
Relevant working experience e.g. research institute
Proven commitment to social justice.
Affinity with the mission of the TUC (Ghana)

Lobbying and advocating skills.
Communication skills.
Computer literate
Language skills (excellent command English language, both written and oral)
