Gold Fields Ghana Jobs: Chief Engineer

Tarkwa Gold Mine is seeking to employ a self motivated person as a Chief Engineer in its Engineering Department.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Chief Engineer will be responsible for operational cost control, risk mitigating initiatives, critical parts analysis and inventory management. He/she will maintain a safe and friendly environment and will ensure that effective engineering standards and procedures are developed and implemented in compliance with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 requirements.

The Chief Engineer will focus mainly on safety, risk management, the identification and elimination of Heap Leach throughout constraints. He/she will ensure that the integrity and availability of the processing plant is maintained through renewal projects, improved inventory management, upgrading the planned maintenance system and activities including the monitoring of critical equipment

Developing and managing all Heap Leach plant engineering standards, processes, procedures, preventative maintenance and breakdown maintenance
Implementation of proactive maintenance strategies and programmes
Ensuring effective critical parts analysis and inventory management
Ensuring operational cost control and risk mitigating initiatives are implemented

Required Skills or Experience

A tertiary qualification in the field of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from the an accredited institution
Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
Well developed oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated understanding of good engineering practices and the implementation of proactive maintenance strategies
A hands-on approach and be willing to work long hours to obtain the required results
The ability to meet diverse engineering challenges within the broad scope of the engineering field pertaining to production orientated activities
Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point and Project Scheduler
It would be advantageous if applicants have:
Expatriate work experience in a remote location having resided in a camp environment
Exposure to Mainpac planned maintenance system and SAP Plant Maintenance module
Ensuring development and mentoring of engineering staff
Ensuring that cost and revenue initiatives are pursued through the principles of reliability engineering and improved procurement management
Meeting high environmental and safety standards
Maintaining a safe and friendly environment ensuring that effective engineering standards and procedures are developed and implemented in compliance with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 requirements
Minimum of 5 years management experience in a maintenance function in the mining industry
Knowledge of crushers, screens, conveyors and pumps is essential for this function
Medical fitness for the position and environment
A valid driver license and proficiency in driving
