Golder Associates is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to provide exceptional services and support to the Geotechnical team on a variety of challenging Projects. This position is part of the Ground Engineering Team within the Mine Waste Business Unit, within our overall Europe, Africa and Australia region.
Job Description
Job Title: Senior Geotechnical Engineer
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Functional Output / Duties
Lead geotechnical engineering on services on mining and infrastructure projects
Provide technical advice and consultancy on complex geotechnical issues to clients and internal staff
Develop client relationship and build business in West Africa, particularly Ghana
Use advanced techniques, modifications and extension of theories, practices to synthesise and analyse data for decision making/ recommendations
Build reputation as Technical Leader/Lead Consultant within the Geotechnical Engineering profession
Keep abreast of advancing technologies, methods and research & development
Manage, analyse and geotechnical reporting for projects which may include the following:
Foundations for medium to large projects
Earthworks, ground improvement and development
Problematic soils
Provide safety leadership in identifying and alleviating/ eliminating high priority safety hazards
Participate in training activities, mentoring and transferring knowledge to junior and intermediate geotechnical engineers
Plan, develop schedules, coordinate and direct manpower on important engineering projects to meet completion deadlines
Supervise, coordinate and review/evaluate activities carried out by junior engineers and intermediate
Prepare proposals and reports for clients
Conduct field visits in Africa

Manage debtors in accordance with Golder’s targets
Health & Safety
Promote and uphold Health & Safety systems and program priorities
Act as and custodian of Golder’s Health and Safety best practice
Health and safety performance indicators in line with Golder’s targets
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Relevant Degree in Civil Engineering with at least an MSc Civil / Geotechnical Engineering. Post-graduate study would be an added advantage.
10 – 15 plus years’ experience post-graduation.
Geotechnical Experience in a consulting firm, and experience in West Africa, would be a plus.
French language is an added advantage
Exposure to mining and industrial projects
Valid Driver’s License and passport.
