Abosso Goldfields Ltd, a subsidiary of Gold Fields Limited. Located in a tropical climate, the Damang Gold Mine is a world-class operation,consisting of 25 Mtpa open pit-mining operations and a 5.2 Mtpa CIL metallurgical plant. The mine is situated in the Western Region of Ghana and is ISO 14001 and OHSAS18001 certificated. It has a current Life of Mine expectency to the year 2019 and beyond.

 

1. Superintendent – Shift Supervision (DL)

Job Description

Purpose of the Job:
Damang Gold Mine is a subsidiary of Gold Fields International. Located in a tropical climate, the Damang Gold Mine is a world-class operation, consisting of 25 Mtpa open pit-mining operations and a 5.2 Mtpa CIL Metallurgical Plant. The mine is situated in West Region of Ghana and is ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certificated. Its current life of Mine expectancy is projected to 2019 and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that good mining practices are followed to facilitate effective select mining
  • Initiating cost saving practices and productivity improvement of specially assigned projects
  • Monitoring the consistency of discipline within area of responsibility by ensuring the consistency of sanctions and the handling of grievances
  • Organising personnel and equipment to safely and effectively achieve planned targets
  • Ensuring that all employees including contractors are in their right PPEs
  • Visiting all areas of responsibility and ensuring that correct work procedures are followed
  • Compiling end of shift reports
  • Ensuring own staff are effectively trained, developed, and supervised
  • Applying knowledge and experience to solve problems during the shift
  • Maintaining a safe and environmental friendly working environment
  • Maintaining a culture of Continuous Improvement in the section

Required Skills or Experience

 

  • 5 years experience in similar position
  • Well developed oral and written communication skills in English Language
  • Medical fitness for the position and environment
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Must possess Blasting, Mine Captain and Shift Boss Certificates
  • Must be SAP proficient
  • A valid Ghanaian driver’s Permit
  • A hands-on approach and be willing to work long hours to obtain the required results

It will be advantageous if applicant has:

  • A minimum of BSc Mining Engineering or equivalent
  • Good knowledge in Dispatch Systems
  • Experience in Mine Planning
  • Extensive knowledge in applicable Mining Regulations
  • Mine Superintendents’ Certificate of Competency

 

2. Special Duty Driver – B3

Purpose of the Job:
Gold Fields Ghana Limited, Accra Office is seeking to engage the services of a trustworthy and experienced individual to fill the position of a Special Duty Driver. The successful applicant will be responsible for conveying employees, materials, and equipment safely to their various destinations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport employees, materials and equipment, according to standards and procedures
  • Maintain assigned vehicles with a focus on performing daily/routine vehicle inspections
  • Ensure cleanliness of assigned vehicles
  • Performing minor maintenance tasks on the vehicles when necessary
  • Prepare accurate reports and records of incidents/accidents and delays
  • Ensure routine maintenance is carried on assigned vehicle
  • Comply with requirements of Ghana Road Traffic Act & Regulations
  • Fulfill special requests by picking up and delivering items and luggage as directed
  • Maintain passenger confidence by keeping information strictly confidential

Required Skills or Experience

 

  • SHS Certificate or Middle School Leaving Certificate

3. SAP Superuser [PM/DMS]

Job Description

Purpose of the Job:
Gold Fields Ghana is seeking to employ an experienced and self motivated SAP Super User who will apply acquired knowledge and experience to provide the SAP Business Process Owners and SAP End-users with timeous and relevant assistance to ensure appropriate and productive use of the business processes in SAP.

  • Standardization, updating and management of relevant master data
  • Providing the end user with appropriate SAP support and assistance in order to optimise usage of the business application
  • Ensure continuous business improvement as per customer requirements

4. Senior Surveyor (C4)

Job Description

Purpose of the Job:
The Surveyor section of the Mining Department is seeking to employ the services of a competent individual to the position of Senior Surveyor. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and scheduling survey duties. In addition, he/she will be expected to apply survey skills and knowledge as well as knowledge of legislation, procedures, standards, and policies to produce outputs that meet quality standards and requirements to support the operation to achieve its objectives and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that all pit survey are carried out efficiently
  • Ensures that all advanced Survey tasks (mining survey, engineering survey and projects) are efficient and accurate
  • Ensures continuous improvement project (six sigma) is successfully implemented through efficient data delivery
  • Ensure DTM’s are updated and presented correctly and timely
  • Ensure standard procedures are followed by surveyors when using survey equipments
  • Ensure that Cost is controlled and wastage of resources eliminated
  • Mentors and coaches subordinates at all times

  • Tertiary qualification in Geodetic Engineering or its equivalent

Job Description

Purpose of the Job:
The Learning & Development (L&D) Department seeks the expertise of a Unit Manager-Engineering Training who will use acquired knowledge and skills to design, build and manage the Technical Training Centre for Gold Field Ghana. The successful applicant will be responsible for the development and implementation of Engineering training standards and procedures in compliance with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 requirements, and support for the overall Engineering L&D strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and building of an Engineering Technical Training Centre for Gold Fields Ghana
  • Developing and implementing internationally accredited engineering training policies, procedures, practices and guidelines for artisans and supervisors associated with SURFACE MINING HEAVY PLANT AND EQUIPMENT plus GOLD PROCESSS PLANT maintenance
  • Coordinate the Discipline Development Committee meeting and actions
  • Support the term strategy directions of the engineering training by delivering, monitoring and reviewing the Engineering L&D plan
  • Provide operational leadership for the delivery and mainstreaming of Engineering L&D initiatives
  • Manage the performance of the Engineering training team and their individual development in terms of levels of skill and complexity of work and abilities
  • Drive Engineering Talent Management for Gold Fields Ghana

Required Skills or Experience

 

  • Tertiary qualification in the field of Mechanical/Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a Learning & Development role in the mining industry
  • Qualified tradesmen (Mechanical/Electrical)
  • Certified Assessor/Moderator
  • Knowledge of technical training management systems, learning design and training standardization
  • Proficiency in the application of Microsoft Office Suite with practical knowledge in Project Scheduler
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and a relationship building skills
  • Demonstrable understanding of good engineering practices and the implementation of proactive L&D strategies
  • Ability to meet diverse engineering training challenges within the broad scope of the engineering field pertaining to L&D activities

  • Must be a self starter and result oriented
  • Medical fitness for the position and environment
