Job Description

Job Title: Monitoring & Evaluation Officer

Key Responsibilities

• Monitoring and evaluation frame work for ongoing project in alignment with the overall organisation program work plan
• Work closely with partners for efficient data collection on all projects
• Design and implement the Project’s M&E system, including the development of indicators, setting targets, and monitoring project progress
• Ensuring timely data collection, writing quarterly and annual reports and liaising with the project financial team to track the budget in relation to all project results and outcomes
• Analyse data collected to assess progress and identify areas for improvement
• Provide regularly updated reports on the status of implementation against the project goals and objectives to the supervisor, management and other project staff as required
• Collaborate with the project team in identifying project activities, processes and or outcomes that are worthy of documentation and design a system for capturing lessons learned and best practices
• Support planning of new activities that support the desired results of projects, this includes providing input into assessments, Project apprasial documents, and scopes of work for new activities
• Support monitoring and evaluation of implementation of activities, this may involve reviewing work plans, quarterly reports, participating in field visits, initiating regular reviews and contributing to program evaluations
• Support the development of proposals, impact stories, research, conducting base line studies, process review, monitoring and evaluation studies and impact assessment studies for various donor/partner organisations
• Support project teams in product of newsletters, abstracts and publications on GNGH activities
• Performs other duties as assigned or required by supervisor and management

Qualification Required & Experience

• Master’s Degree in a development, planning, public health, social science, economics, statistics or relevant discipline with advanced training in monitoring and evaluation/organisation performance assessment
• Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience in a performance monitoring and/or evaluation role with a Non-Government development organisation
• Demonstrated ability in data analysis, project design, monitoring and evaluation of development activities
• Experience developing results frameworks, logical frameworks, or similar tools for project design and M&E Framework
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in monitoring and evaluating programs, including indicator development, study design and data analysis – in multiple sectors
• Excellent research and data collection methodology skills
• Skills in supporting staff with a variety of levels of knowledge and capabilities
• Strong organisational skills in order to balance competing priorities
• Ability to work independently to efficiently meet deadlines
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Oral and written communication skills to deal effectively with mid and high level partners contacts, government partners, and the local communities
• Excellent computer skills and in the use of statistical packages such as SPSS, STATA, R including word processing, spreadsheet programs and data base management
