Job Description

Job Title: Head of Treasury

Purpose:

The job holder is to assess, monitor, plan and manage the efficient utilization of cash and financial services in a manner consistent with the objectives of the Bank and provide the Bank with access to sufficient funds while minimizing its financing costs and exposure to exchange and interest rate changes .

Essential Duties:

• Ensure that sufficient liquidity exists to meet funding requirements.
• Provide adequate cost effective funding.
• Ensure that the Bank can service its debt by prudent management of interest expense and adherence to financial covenants.
• Ensure that working capital and other operational cash needs of branches are appropriately funded.
• Manage foreign exchange and interest rate risks.
• Ensure the effective and efficient management of assets and liabilities.
• Review and recommend changes to the investment policies based on the market conditions.
• Prepare or monitor the bank’s various cash flow forecasts and perform financial modeling.
• Evaluate, develop and implement cash management systems to optimize efficiencies.
• Understand and manage appropriate accounting procedures and processes.
• Assess risk/return trade offs in guidelines.
• Set quantitative benchmarks within the following framework to define the bank’s risk tolerance level;

Statutory and Regulatory requirements including but not limited to;

• Capital Adequacy,
• Single Borrower,
• Reserve Requirements

Operational Management Requirements including but not limited to;

• Credit to Deposit Ratio,
• Sectorial exposures and limits as per the banks credit policies,
• Maximum concentration levels for Deposits and Credits.

Knowledge,Skills and Abilities;

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Admin or any related field

Knowledge of investment portfolio strategy, banking, and financial instruments.

General knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements for investments and other financial instruments.

Knowledge of treasury software is a plus.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in treasury gained from a financial institution with 3 years supervisory experience.

Demonstrated strong project management skills.

Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.

Good presentation skills

Interest in continuous improvement

Must be analytical and numerically inclined

Advanced spreadsheet and modeling skills.

Good Interpersonal skills, must be a team player

Good computer skills – Microsoft suite, Accounting software
