Job Title: Energy Planning and Project Development Expert – Ghana (Job Number: 1700003258)

ICF’s Regulatory, Economics, Environment, and Energy (R3E) line of Business is looking for an Energy Planning and Project Development Expert to work in our Ghana office.

What you’ll be doing:

As an expert in the fields of energy planning and renewable energy project development, you’ll play an integral role as a part of the ongoing U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)/Ghana Integrated Resource and Resilience Planning (IRRP) Program, which is seeking to improve national power sector planning. You’ll work closely with the Chief of Party and the Senior Power Sector Expert, and will be responsible for supporting the implementation of an Integrated Power Sector Master Plan (IPSMP) by working closely with various Ghana power sector stakeholders.

Additionally, you’ll provide technical support in the implementation and roll-out of the IPSMP as well as provide technical support in climate, environmental, and general project management issues. You will be able to demonstrate prior experience working in Ghana or West Africa.

Hiring for this position is contingent on approval from USAID/Ghana.

Qualifications

What you’ll need…

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 10+ years relevant experience in Ghana and/or West Africa in energy sector project planning and management
  • Experience working with a range of program partners, including: government agencies, regulatory bodies, private sector businesses, NGOs, civil society, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in electricity sector planning, strategy, and development
  • Experience working with Ghana energy sector agencies and agencies responsible for environmental and/or climate change issues
  • Experience in clean energy project development and grid integration
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities

What We’d Like You to Have…

  • Energy Sector Expertise – familiarity with energy/climate/environment sector planning processes and project management in Ghana
  • Generation, transmission and distribution analysis, and GHG accounting
  • Capacity building expertise in transmission and distribution, renewable energy resources, climate change, and energy efficiency
  • Familiarity with power plant operations and management
  • 5+ years of regional/ international experience in energy sector programs
  • Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Economics, Energy, Operations Research, Project Management, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Experience with an international organization or NGO managing a program or office
