The International Potato Center (CIP) seeks to reduce poverty and achieve food security on a sustained basis in developing countries through scientific research and related activities on potato, sweetpotato and other root and tuber crops, and on the improved management of natural resources in the Andes and other mountain areas.
CIP is a Future Harvest Center supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). CIP headquarters are in Lima, Peru and its regional headquarters in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) are in Nairobi, Kenya.
CIP scientists are also based in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia.
In Ghana, CIP offices are located at CSIR-Crops Research Institute, Kumasi, and at CSIR-Savanna Agricultural Research Institutute, Tamale. Our efforts in the region are focused on research for the improvement of the resilient, nutritious sweetpotato for health.
Job Description
Job Title: Cleaner And Office Assistant
Tamale, Ghana
The International Potato Center (CIP) is looking for a Cleaner and Office Assistant for one-year, fixedterm, renewable appointments. The incumbents will be subject to a probationary period of 6 months.
Subsequent confirmation and renewal of the contract will be subject to the performance of the candidates and the Institute’s requirements. Successful candidates will assist office and lab cleaning and with office clerical assistance at the CIP office in Tamale.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Office Assistance
Answer phones and transfer to the appropriate staff member;
Receive and distribute parcels and courier deliveries;
Assist in scanning and photocopying documents;
Assist in maintaining office filing and storage systems and retrieving information when requested;
Assist in updating and maintaining databases such as mailing lists, contact lists and client information;
Assist with event planning and implementation;
Assist in monitoring and maintaining office supplies; and
Assist with other office errands as may be requested.
Cleaning
Clean, dust and mop office/ Laboratory floors;
Ensure that supplies for cleaning are always in stock;
Wipe and dust desks and chairs using appropriate cleaning materials;
Empty trash cans and ensure proper disposal of waste;
Ensure adequate cleaning of office and lab equipment;
Ensure availability of towels, soap and toilet paper in bathrooms at all times; and
Ensure that offices are locked properly at the end of each day.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Essential High School Certificate.
Essential High sense of integrity and confidentiality.
Good communication skills and Neatness.
