PEG delivers Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) asset-based financing to consumers who lack both access to reliable electricity and formal banking services. PEG’s anchor product – a basic solar home system that includes three lights, a phone charger and a radio – allows consumers living on $5-10 per day to access clean light for working and studying after hours, avoid harmful air pollution from kerosene based lighting solutions, and also build credit for additional products and services over time.

Job Description

Job Title: Finance Associate

PEG has grown from 12 employees in Ghana, to 200+ employees across Ghana and Ivory Coast in the last two years. In addition to this, we have 200+ commission based sales agents, 31+ service centers in Ghana, and over a dozen investors and grantors.
Working closely with the Finance manager, the Finance Associate will support PEG’s financial operations to ensure that they are in line with internal and external policies and regulations. The Finance Associate will help in maintaining growth and better serve PEG by providing excellent finance support to the operating teams

Responsibilities Include:

Reconcile all bank, control and other accounts.
Provide daily reports on cash position and weekly cash expenditure forecast
Verifying, checking supporting documentation expenses claims
Processing expenses claims transactions once paid
Converting transactions into our recording currency where appropriate
Prepare monthly schedules, including debtors and creditors, and Establish chart of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts
Maintain financial security by following internal control procedures
Reconcile any discrepancies or errors identified; resolving coding allocation issues
Substantiate financial transactions by checking the appropriateness of support documents
Match invoices to checks, obtain all signatures for checks and distribute checks accordingly

Respond to all vendor inquiries
Suggest changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and cost reductions
Assist in month end closing
Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
Adhere to PEG’s financial policies and procedures

Any other duties as assigned
The successful candidate must have:
BSc. in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or any related field
2 years working experience in an accounting field or position
Competent in the use of Microsoft office packages
Strong excel background
