Job Description

Job Title: HIV Advisors

Background

JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI), a leader in global health, is currently recruiting HIV Advisors for the ongoing USAID Strengthening the Care Continuum Project. This is a five-year project. The overall goal of the project is to improve the capacity of the Government of Ghana (GOG)
and its partners to provide quality and comprehensive HIV services for key populations and people living with HIV/AIDS using a coordinated and sustainable approach. This is a one-year full time position; the HIV Advisor will be embedded in a partner organization. Partner organizations have field offices located in 12 districts across Ashanti, Western, Brong Ahafo and Greater Accra regions. This is a yearly renewable contract based upon availability of funding for the sub-recipient Civil Society
Organization(s) (CSOs).
Job Location: Twelve (12) districts across Ashanti, Western, Brong Ahafo and Greater Accra regions.
No. of Positions: Thirteen (13) Positions. Numbers per each stated region may vary.
Reporting Relationship: The HIV Advisor reports to the Executive Directors of the various CSO’s in the aforementioned regions.

Primary Responsibilities & Duties

Provide technical assistance to partner organizations to increase demand for facility and community-based HIV prevention, care, treatment, and support services for KPs in line with 90-90-90 goals.
Support Partner organizations in the design, roll-out and day-to-day implementation of community-based interventions and innovations and related community activities to help achieve measureable targets—those of the Care Continuum project and Ghana’s 90-90-90’s
Facilitate the identification of challenges–service gaps and barriers–to accessing HIV services among KPs and research, share, and mainstream
promising practices to overcome challenges; document and share with Care Continuum innovations to meet those challenges at the local level
Assist project coordinators and field officers in the prioritization and implementation, determine and adjust appropriate of KP interventions for optimum HIV+ yield, ARV treatment enrolment and viral load suppression; project activities for results
Develop guidelines to manage performance of project officers, peer educators, case managers and related project staff
Support SBCC team to disseminate materials, elicit feedback

Required Skills or Experience

A degree in Public Health, Social and/or Behavioral Sciences or a related field, with specific emphasis on community-level health promotion and/or education
Minimum three years of experience in community-level HIV prevention, care and treatment programs involving multiple stakeholders
Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based and promising behavioral and structural HIV prevention interventions, best practices in community health interventions and linkage to services
Prior experience in building community competency and capacity for improving health and use of participatory methodologies for planning and
implementing local-level activities
Excellent interpersonal, training, facilitation, team building and problem solving skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Fluent in English
Understanding of the local language of the project area is an asset
