Senior Community Development Officer
Job Description
Reporting to the Community Affairs Manager at the Esaase project site.
The incumbent’s responsibilities will include:
- Leading the implementation of the Company’s community development policies and procedures to ensure transparency and maximize community buy-in;
- Assisting in designing and coordinating the implementation of community development infrastructure projects in the project catchment area;
- Facilitating capacity building of various committees to mobilize community members and other resources in support of community development projects;
- Coordinating the Company’s livelihoods and vocational training programmes; and
- Consulting and seeking partnerships with relevant stakeholders such as traditional authorities, local and regional government agencies, youth associations, NGOs, etc
Required Skills or Experience
Submissions are being sought from applicants who meet the following minimum criteria:
- Degree in either Civil Engineering, Social Science or any other related discipline with at least 4 years working experience in a community development role;
- Knowledge of principles, practices, methods and techniques related to community development;
- Knowledge of governmental structures, systems, processes, and procedures;
- Fluent in the local dialect and able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must be computer literate; and
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
2. Community Affairs Superintendent – Land Access
Reporting to the Community Affairs Manager at the Esaase project site.
The incumbent’s responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in developing the Company’s land access policies and procedures;
- Managing the Company’s crop assessment and compensation activities;
- Building and maintaining cooperative and constructive relationships with farmers, landowners, Land Valuation Board representatives, and other stakeholders with interests in land access;
- Ensuring consistency in information delivered to farmers and landowners to reduce misunderstanding and build confidence; and
- Ensuring the Company demonstrates respect for the cultural heritage, traditional beliefs, and traditional land rights of the local communities
Required Skills or Experience

- Degree in the Humanities or Social Science or any other related discipline with at least 7 years working experience in a community relations role in the mining industry;
- Excellent understanding of community functioning and structures, and knowledge of principles, practices, methods and techniques related to community relations;
- Knowledge of governmental structures, systems, processes, and procedures;
- Fluent in the local dialect and able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must be computer literate; and
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
3. Community Affairs Superintendent – Stakeholder Engagement
Reporting to the Community Affairs Manager at the Esaase project site.
The incumbent’s responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in developing the Company’s Stakeholder Engagement Plan
- Managing all formal and informal consultation with stakeholder communities, and ensuring all consultation is accurately documented in the Company’s Ananse information management system;
- Building and maintaining cooperative and constructive relationships with traditional authorities, local and regional government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders;
- Ensuring that all stakeholder complaints and grievances are handled in a respectful manner and in accordance with the Company’s standard operating procedures; and
- Developing methods and technologies for achieving improved communications between the Company and its stakeholders
