Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Lecturer or Lecturer in Law

Kings University College, Ghana, invites applications for the position of Assistant Lecturer or Lecturer in Law in the Faculty of Law, Governance and International Relations. The Faculty of Law, Governance & International Relations, seeks to ensure that its law students are offered an outstanding student experience. It prepares its students for success in life, and in the workplace, by providing a high-quality, rounded education in law, and governance, appropriate to the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. Accordingly, the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a commitment to ensuring that s/he is able to contribute to this aspiration in a very practical, flexible and energetic way. The successful applicant will form part of a small, enthusiastic and motivated team delivering the LLB programme.

Essential Functions

  • Teach English Law subjects, namely UK Civil Liberties and Human Rights Law; UK Intellectual Property Law; UK Equity and Trusts Law; and UK Landlord and Tenant Law;, and Ghana Law subjects.
  • Research and publish in a peer reviewed journal, within one year of appointment
  • Participate in faculty course design and curriculum development.
  • Participate in faculty seminars.
  • Undertake responsibilities as the personal tutor for a group of students.
  • Assist in administrative responsibilities.
  • Perform regular faculty duties including participation at faculty meetings, participation on faculty committees, and support for law student union efforts, and outreach.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a researched Master’s Degree from an accredited university.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Ability to teach English and Ghana Law.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Ph.D degree from an accredited university.
  • Experience of teaching at the tertiary level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively on a variety of projects and with a variety of constituents.
  • Demonstrable ability to teach.
  • A publication record
