Kinross Gold Corporation Recruiting Long Hole Driller/Trainer

Chirano is located in southwestern Ghana, approximately 100 kilometres southwest of Kumasi, Ghana’s second largest city. The mine is within the Bibiani gold belt and consists of 11 deposits. Open pit and underground ore are processed at the Chirano plant. The capacity of the mill is approximately 3.5 million tonnes per annum. Processing involves crushing, ball mill grinding, leaching, and CIL.

Job Description

Job Title: Long Hole Driller/Trainer

To manage technical projects and / or programs and provide moderately complex technical support to a department in an area including, but not limited to: engineering, geology, mine, health safety and training. Directs activities in a cost-effective, safe, productive manner, ensuring that team members have the required training. Ensures the adherence of established policies, practices and procedures when leading teams and completing work assignments. Key duties may include safe and efficient operation of Long Hole drilling rigs and training of drillers and offsiders for mine production in accordance with quality specifications.

Job Responsibilities

• Works without supervision to lead and complete technical activities for the department and ensures the accurate and timely completion of activities
• Mark up drill patterns in accordance with design, geological, statutory and survey specifications
• Drill to design, measure and confirm completion within specification acceptances
• Responsible for conducting and reporting results while maintaining accurate and detailed records and files
• Supports the development and implementation of appropriate standards and policies related to the departmental area
• Prepares communication materials, manuals and other written materials related to technical issues, programs or systems
• Responds to complex technical problems, making decisions that are guided by policies
• Prioritizes and schedules work that is requested by other departments
• May be responsible for the inspection and replacement of company tools
• Provides mentoring and learning to drillers and offsiders with less experience to enhance their technical knowledge and skill sets

Education and Experience

Education

• College or technical training equivalent to 2 years of study

Experience

• 8-10 years of relevant work experience
• Experience in a Supervisory role
• A Ghanaian with a previous experience in a mining area outside Ghana will be preferred
• Proven record as a Long Hole Trainer

• In-depth understanding of Kinross’ processes a definite asset
• Ability to learn quickly and communicate effectively
• Ability to work with others in a team environment
• Good analytical and organizational skills
