The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Ghana Office is the government agency that implements grant aid and technical cooperation program of the Government of the Republic of Korea in Ghana, Togo, and Benin

Job Title: Program Officer

Job Location

Accra, Greater Accra Region; with occasional business trip to Northern Volta and Northern Region

Job Purpose 

Under the general supervision of the KOICA Country Director, the Program Officer has the responsibility to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of KOICA project (in collaboration with UN Multilateral Organization) with a focus on gender equality, health, and education. The Program Officer is in charge to liaise, monitor, and ensure effective use of reporting mechanism between KOICA, the Government of Ghana, the UN Multilateral Organization, and other stakeholders.

Job Description

  • Provide technical, administrative and logistical support pertaining to the smooth coordination of the Project in accordance with specified procedures and obligations;
  • Build and maintain partnership through effective communication and liaison with related Government Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs), UN Multilateral Organization and other implementing partners;
  • Attend, participate and report meetings/forums related to the education & health sector organized by the Development Partners or related MDAs;
  • Ensure complete and timely submission of plans, reports, and other deliverables to KOICA for review and evaluation, as appropriate;
  • Analyze plans, reports, and other deliverables and evaluate the expected results and plans of action;
  • Document project updates and information to ensure quality and completeness of records (filing and uploading);

Qualification and Requirements

  • University Degree in development studies, education, project management, gender and women studies, or any other field related to social science;
  • A minimum three (3) years of professional experience in internationally financed social development program, preferably with focus in adolescent health or education;
  • Proven skills in liaison, communication and project management;
  • Ample understanding of adolescent health/education and child protection in Ghana;
  • Additional knowledge on vocational training system in Ghana;
  • Fair knowledge of monitoring and evaluation tools;
  • Have creative, energetic but pragmatic approach to problem-solving and an appreciation of the respective roles of the public sector and donor partner and civil society in the development cooperation;
  • Computer literate;
  • Excellent speaking and writing ability in English.

  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint;

  • Ability to provide input that will yield to change;
  • Should be able to set task priorities, coordinate and evaluate own work schedule;
  • Excellent administrative support and organizational skills;
  • Should be able to pay attention to details;
  • Resourceful in gathering and coordinating relevant information.

The successful candidate must be ready to start work in June 2017
