Job Summary

This new high profile role will be an important member of the research team for the £6.8M RECIRCULATE project funded by Research Councils UK through the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF).  GCRF funding over 4 years will support new partnership-based approaches to enable West African researchers to grow transformational impact through (i) working with, in and for their communities and (ii) developing robust, durable and equitable partnerships with UK researchers. RECIRCULATE is a collaboration between Lancaster University (LUMS LEC, Engineering and Biomedical & Life Sciences), LU Ghana, CSIR Ghana, and University of Benin, with phased expansion to other partners in Kenya, Malawi, Zambia and Botswana.

Women Innovators Network for Africa (WINA) initially focused on co-creating a network across RECIRCULATE partner countries and the UK in order to provide peer support (mentoring) and leadership support (coaching and training) for emerging female leaders in the ‘water economy’.

The candidate will be part of RECIRCULATE IRP based at Lancaster University Ghana. The appointment would be for 18 months in the first instance but, subject to funding, these could be extended if desirable.

The ideal candidate will conduct high impact mentoring, training and engagement with African women to maximize WINA network. It may include identifying women who would benefit from training on innovation and entrepreneurial capabilities; women who are the key change makers in different African contexts; and linking female tech-entrepreneurs across the WINA and Recirculate networks.
