Position Summary:
The Head of Programs (HoP) oversees and directs the country program operations of the Literacy Bridge Ghana (LBG), including the proposal development, program management, program reports development, and monitoring and evaluation. Advises Country Director on long-range strategic programs development planning, affiliation on monitoring and evaluation, and program development.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of the HoP will be 1. focus on administering contracts and driving the implementation of Talking Book Programs, ensuring wellcoordinated, timely delivery of high quality programs in line with approved workplans and funding agreements and 2. Grants proposal writing.

Proposal Writing:

Develop funding proposals for the program to ensure the continuous delivery of services.
Writing proposals and supporting documents in response to proposal and grants applications solicitations
Submission of grant proposals to potential donors
Researches and identifies donors, corporates, foundations, and private funding prospects
Maintains and implements funding calendar activities
Innovation & Strategic Direction:
Ensure program strategy focuses on continued improvements and innovations derived from internal program insights, third-party research and best practices among similar organizations
Leadership:
Serve on the Senior Management team, participating in strategic planning and problem solving
Develop and implement strategies to align program direction with organization goals
Program Management:
Oversee execution of all program activities
Develop pilot projects to test new approaches to increase efficiency and impact
Liaise with Partners Managers to ensure the effective and efficient projects outputs delivery
Liaise with other managers to ensure the effective and efficient program delivery
Manage program management, and monitoring and evaluation personnel
Coordinate with CD and other management team to ensure free flow of programs information
Coordinate with Snr. Accountant to develop an annual budget and operating plan to support the country programs.
Staff Management & Development:
Work with cross-cultural staff in a growing organization
Develop performance measurements across program areas, to ensure consistent, high-quality evaluation and goal setting for all program employees
Recruit, hire, and oversee training and orientation of program staff members
Collaborate with leadership team to develop and improve organizational human resource policies and tools
Budget Management:
Oversee program budget and tracking individual project budgets
Relationship Management:
Manage relationships with senior staff of key program partners
Oversee relationship management of partnerships carried out by program staff
Manage relationship with Literacy Bridge-US/Amplio Director of Partnerships
M&E & Content Strategy:
Guide development of a cohesive content strategy and related M&E
Oversee M&E for organization, including managing M&E staff person and program management team in developing and operationalizing M&E strategy

Desired Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

Master’s Degree in International Development, Public Health, Agriculture, or related field;
Eight (8) years of relevant experience, with three (3) years in a senior program management role; and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in writing
winnable proposals, managing USAID or other donor-funded international development projects or programs. Long-term resident experience working in Ghana or developing countries preferred;

Managing programs within the global development sector; experience in public health or agriculture education and/or behavior change communication programs is considered a plus;
Must have an in-depth knowledge of proposal development and writing, program design and development, and monitoring and evaluation;
Must have a strong knowledge of program personnel management, financial management;
Experience developing program reports, work plans, and program budgets tracking;
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external clients;
