Job Title: Pharmacist Advisor – REF: 0934
Main Purpose of the Job
The incumbent will provide technical assistance and support to the facilities at all levels to ensure proper pharmaceutical governance, management and supply chain management for public sector HIV/AIDS;STIs and TB and related services.
Key Performance Areas
- Assist with provision of technical assistance to HIV, TB and STI Programmes and other Strategic Health Programmes.
- Assist with coordination of pharmacovigilance programme for HIV, TB and STI Programmes (and other Strategic Health Programmes) to optimise patients’ safety in use of medicines.
- Assist with the implementation of systems for ensuring continuous availability of and access to essential medicines and other related products for HIV, TB and STI Programmes (and other Strategic Health Programmes).
- Assist with the implementation of the system for accessing third line medicines for HIV and TB.
- Assist with the evaluation of research protocols and clinical trials, including implementation of relevant operational research for HIV, TB and STI Programmes (and other Strategic Health Programmes).
- Communication with National, Provincial and District stakeholders.
- Develop and oversee completion of accurate and timely production of all required reports.
Required minimum education and training
- Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree that allows registration with the necessary professional body.
- Initial and Current Registration with the Pharmacy Council as Pharmacist Advisor.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Minimum work experience
- 5 years’ relevant experience.
- Drivers licence and own transport; willingness to travel.
Professional body registration
- Registered with the necessary professional body.
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities
- Relevant Post-graduate qualification.
- Experience in chronic treatment programmes eg. HIV; TB; managing adult, and pediatric treatment and care.
- Experience working in a NGO setting.
- Mentoring, supporting and facilitation experience also desirable.
- Management, coordination and planning skills.
- Demonstrate resourcefulness, communication, report writing and administrative skill.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a diverse environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Leadership skills and ability to solve problems.
- Thorough with good attention to detail.
- Self-motivation with high regard for excellence, work ethic, values and integrity.
