APM Terminals is one of the world’s largest port and terminal operators as well as providing cargo support and container Inland Services. It is the largest port and terminal operating company in terms of overall geographic scope, operating a Global Terminal Network with interests in 63 operating port and terminal facilities in 39 countries on five continents. Additionally, there are seven new port projects in development, as well as over 160 Inland Services operations providing container transportation, management, maintenance and repair in 48 countries.

Job Description

Job Title: Regional Head of Human Resources, IS Africa.

Based in Ghana and reporting to the Regional Head of Inland Services Africa, the Regional Head of HR will be responsible as the Functional leader of the HR function and HR Teams in the Africa Inland Services portfolio, which currently consists of 11 countries in Sub Sahran Africa. The successful candidate will also have responsibilities for leading the organizational development of IS Africa, ensuring the right organizational setup and capabilities are in place to drive the future growth of the business and serve as a liaise between country entities and the Global and Regional HR function.

PURPOSE
➢ As Regional Head of HR you will act as a key business partner by driving and embedding Human Resources strategies, providing professional HR expertise and supporting and coaching business leaders and HR leaders within IS Africa – delivering and adding significant value to the business.
➢ Together with the HR teams and the business units, the Head of HR works out running topics and drive the strategic agenda. You will drive and support the global HR processes, lead the annual HR cycle and participate in ad hoc HR initiatives and projects in Africa and on a group level.

Key responsibilities
➢ Drive the people processes (performance, development and career) and serve as a facilitator and coach leaders on performance management.
➢ Ensure the execution and delivery of HR operational activities in an effective and efficient manner.
➢ Build strong relationships and trust with leaders and colleagues, offer HR expertise and coaching on people issues, assist leaders to gain a better understanding of employees’ needs and career aspirations.
➢ Provide support and guidance to HR leaders and Business leaders on Labour relations and challenges around Union related topics such as CBAs, productivity schemes, negotiations etc.
➢ Provide relevant tools and programmes to attract, develop, and retain talents. Implement HR practices on talent management, leadership development and talent acquisition to close gaps on organisation capabilities and sustain a sufficient talent pipeline to achieve business goals and further enhance long-term competitive advantage.
➢ Functional leader of the HR function, ensuring the right level of HR capabilities are available in the various business units.
➢ Lead the organizational development of IS Africa, ensuring the right organizational setup and capabilities are in place to drive the future growth of the business including benchmarking and best practice sharing across IS Africa entities.
➢ Review and benchmark the internal and external environment to improve the HR policies and initiatives thus enhancing overall business performance.

We are looking for
➢ It is an advantage if you have experience from an HR Business Partner position, in which you have worked directly with business stakeholders and labor unions. You are experienced in several HR areas e.g. recruiting, performance management, and leadership development.
➢ Bachelor degree or above in Business Administration, Human Resources Management or related discipline.
➢ Minimum 5-6 years’ work experience in an HR generalist role in a global organisation, with multi country experience and good understanding of labour market and practices.
➢ Solid understanding and experience in HR fundamentals – recruitment, learning and development, compensation and benefits, employee and industrial relations, as well as fully up-to-date knowledge of local labour laws.
➢ High energy with strong desire to achieve and proven capabilities of multi-tasking and working under pressure and deadlines.
➢ Good coaching and facilitation skills.
➢ Strong abilities to build relationships and manage multiple stakeholders’ interests.
➢ Experience in change management, project management and/ or coaching will be added advantage.
➢ Proficient in MS Office applications and preferably experienced in SAP HCM module.
➢ Excellent written and verbal communication of English.
